Looking at DIO here, I'm wondering how Steely Dan survived getting pummeled for 10 seconds straight. He didn't give Jotaro a lot of reasons to go easy on him.

To elaborate on that, I kind of wish they kept that line and drop some of the other metaphors that happen all throughout the story (they did drop that one and the one where Dio says "maybe all streets look the same to a traveler like yourself") but sometimes it felt Koyasu spoke super fast to go through all that dialogue. I don't remember any other point in Jojo where one third of the dialogue is metaphors.

Fact of the matter is, David's a pretty small studio and have never done a four cour series before, they were probably ill-prepared for how taxing a project that large can be, even with the split cour format.

Remember, the only thing worth the the pot pissed in that David Pro did before Jojo was Ben-to! The fact that they obviously adore the original material shines through, and it's just a matter of the physical constraints of week to week show deliveries that's making the stills jank. They'll be touched up for bluray, as has been said. As a personal aside, I always found a LOT of araki art to be kinda hosed up, so as fun as it is to see DP put in some of the more iconic weirdness on purpose, I think it's totally appropriate that some of their poo poo gets funky as hell on a deadline.
