That number would include valuations on his real estate.[/quote"] The issue has never been Trump's assets it's that Trump has been in the past extremely leveraged to the point that he needs money to keep coming in just to keep the financial house of cards together. I suspect that if he actually releases any financial documents they will omit any liabilities and by almost all accounts he has massive liabilities. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/04/22/donald-trump-net-worth-deposition_n_852376.html Trump is basically full of poo poo and the Forbes list of billionaires is bullshit too, it's mostly just guesses, sometimes major holdings are public record like you can comfortably state that Steve Jobs and Bill Gates were billionaires based on their direct holdings of Disney, Apple and Microsoft but Bill Gates has been very publicly divesting his Microsoft shares and his other holdings one can guess are in the billions because by all accounts his family office is an incredibly successful at diversifying his proceeds from Microsoft but only Bill and his accountants actually know how much he is worth. Actually Bill probably doesn't know and it would probably take a room full of accountants to sort it out at any given time.

I'll bet no "summary of liabilities" will accompany it. A lot of people have impressive-looking summaries of assets - it's real easy to look flush when you neglect to mention your mortgage, student loans, medical debt, back taxes owed, and credit card balances. I don't think a very good case; by the time November 2016 comes around, Trump's campaign will be long forgotten and any effect it might have had will be impossible to detect. Yeah, and on top of that, it just makes the Republicans in general look extremely un-serious. The fact that Trump isn't the candidate with the worst chance of getting the GOP nomination is not, ahem, confidence-inspiring.

Nietzschean posted:I do not watch political TV and I am curious: how much of the Republican candidate field looking silly is real and how much of it is an echoing circle jerk? I mean, that kind of depends what you mean exactly. There's certainly plenty of Schadenfreude here, but each of these candidates carries the seeds of his own destruction. At this point the race is Hillary's to lose. That doesn't mean that the DNC doesn't have work to do between now and next November, and they obviously need to take whatever threat the Republican candidates pose seriously. But that said, right now it's pretty safe to say that this is a piss-poor collection of candidates.
