I'm still puzzled by the argument that apparently "LIEBERALS" hate Christianity. Is it because of being pro-life ad pro-gay rights? Like is that literally it? It really sucks that (yet again) there is no vocal Christian Left in this country to kind of tap people on the shoulder in this regard. I know about Trump's failures (casinos lol) but I'm wondering about why Ed would say what he did.quote:“I know everybody thinks that Trump is a joke and he jumps in front of the parade all the time and is a carnival barker and all that kind of stuff, but if it is about the economy, he’s created more jobs than any of them, than all of the candidates put together. He’s done more deals, he’s signed more contracts, he has the business experience, he’s the guy who’s taking the risk, he’s the guy who has been successful. I mean, Trump’s business experience, compared to the rest of the Republican field, is unparalleled, so why don’t they listen to him?”

It's a funny little pinprick in the right-wing bubble, even if it doesn't usually amount to much. Dr. Faustus posted:I know about Trump's failures (casinos lol) but I'm wondering about why Ed would say what he did. As far as I can tell, Ed is doing a weird kind of backhanded compliment. Essentially, Donald Trump gave a speech where he called out the rest of the GOP for trying to destroy the social security net, saying that it was unfair to the generations of people who had paid into it. It was actually pretty remarkable for a GOP candidate, because he literally said the Republican party wanted to dismantle all three programs by name, which is not at all the party-line. I think Ed Schultz is basically saying "if you guys are the business party, why don't you listen to the successful business man and stop trying to destroy the safety net?" I think he was just latching onto a Republican breaking kayfabe, when Republicans know it's political suicide to openly declare their intentions with those programs. Also, Ed Schultz is kind of a blowhard talk-radio dummy, albeit a left-leaning pro-worker one. Periodiko fucked around with this message at 22:50 on Jun 17, 2015 |

And I think that we are probably better off leaving science to the scientists and focusing on what we're really good at, which is theology and morality. Rick Santorum is Catholic. The Pope has a degree in chemistry which makes it doubly funny. While it is worth noting that a chemistry degree doesn't mean he knows anything about the climate, it does mean that the Pope does in fact know more abut science than Santorum, who apparently thinks religious leaders shouldn't comment on science, but he, a non-scientist, should. Also, I keep giggling every time I type Santorum.

Ghost of Reagan Past posted:Rick Santorum on the Pope That's a very mainstream way to dismiss the Pope though, saying "we shouldn't listen to the Pope on climate change, we should listen to scientists" is as reasonable as it gets. This is what Rick Santorum says about environmentalists that aren't the Pope: quote:“And they’re preying on the Northeast, saying, ‘Look what’s going to happen. Ooh, all this bad stuff’s going to happen, we don’t know all these chemicals and all this stuff,’” he continued. “Let me tell you what’s going to happen: Nothing’s going to happen, except they will use this to raise money for the radical environmental groups so they can go out and continue to try to purvey their reign of environmental terror on the United States of America. We will stand up for the truth.” quote:“This idea that man is here to serve the earth as opposed to husband its resources and be good stewards of the earth” is, he maintained on CBS’s “Face the Nation,” “a phony ideal. I don’t believe that’s what we’re here to do. That man is here to use the resources and use them wisely, to care for the earth, to be a steward of the earth. But we’re not here to serve the earth. The earth is not the objective. Man is the objective, and I think a lot of radical environmentalists have it upside-down.” That kind of ideology, he complained, “elevates the earth above man.”

Pope Francis has a technical certificate and was a lab tech, which while still lightyears more science experience than Santorum has, is just running and maintaining the machinery for actual scientists.

If Rick Santorum gets to pick and choose when he listens to the pope then why the gently caress does he expect the entire nation to listen to his browbeating over what we do with ourselves? I figured the truthiness of the pope was the last line of defense against accusations that their morals come from the icky feeling in their tummies rather than an all powerful sky deity.

Rush Limbaugh's crumbling syndication update, Boston Edition. He was dropped from a 50,000 watt station in Boston, and Clear Channel(now iHeartMedia) is flipping a miniscule 5,000 watt station from Spanish-language programming to random sports and right wing talk just for Limbaugh. This is the radio equivalent of being fired from your job for being a hateful rear end in a top hat, getting evicted, and then having to move back into a tiny room in your parents' house that's filled with all their old exercise equipment. Not only is Limbaugh's reach in Boston vanishing, the syndication company can't even pick up any fees for airing the program since they own the station. They're doing it so they can claim coverage in every major market in order to maintain what few relationships they still have with national advertisers. Limbaugh's current contract is for $50 million per year, and Clear Channel would be insane to renew him when it comes up next year since they're continually posting millions of dollars in losses in the triple digits. Limbaugh is advertising kryptonite. There is no amount of money they could pay him that would justify the losses he is causing for the company. http://mediamatters.org/blog/2015/06/17/rush-limbaugh-demoted-to-another-irrelevant-rat/204028 ErIog fucked around with this message at 01:20 on Jun 18, 2015 |
