MizPiz posted:It's believable. I know there is/was a bridge near NYC where that happened. I think one of the bridges going across the Florida Keys had that happen, too (which looks like where one of the pictures was taken). I think the problem I have with the pictures is how staged they look. They both have guys pouring over plans right at the edge of the bridge. Also it seems like you would know with modern survey equipment long before they got close. No accounting for idiocy though so maybe!

Choco1980 posted:Yeah, like, the backwards roadsigns or things off in alignment I can kinda understand as a whoops, but so many of these seem deliberately awful, like they were just trying to piss someone off, or they truly didn't give a gently caress about their job. One of the bedrooms in my student flat had a balcony that was only accessible if you climbed out of the window. Presumably they bricked up the door because they didn't want people arguing over who got the sweet balcony, but didn't bother removing the actual structure because knocking poo poo off the side of a 15-storey tower block is difficult.

NO gently caress YOU DAD posted:A lot of the doors to nowhere are most likely from building conversions. At my primary school, they built 2 of exactly the same building (standard primary school building around here) right next to each other, with only a couple of inches of space between them. But the buildings come in a kit, so in order to change things (replacing a door with a wall, for example), you have to switch out materials and the construction company doesn't like doing that. So one end of each building had doors and windows that just opened up to a brick wall. There was only 1 window that actually lined up (mostly) with a window in the other building, but it eventually got boarded up because kids were constantly pulling faces at each other and stuff.

Neural networks are a common feature of machine learning: rather than explicitly programme a computer so that it knows how to recognise an image, the company feeds it images and lets it piece together the key features itself.

I cannot tell you how often people came in and insisted that they needed a dumb thing to stupid thing adapter that could not possibly do what they expected it to, and I always jokingly referred to a Cat5 to garden hose connection as one such possibility of a thing you could physically have, but that would not loving do anything. As such, I laughed my rear end off at this.
