Its pretty common to feed prisoners regular street food if your going to be interviewing them for long periods of time. I'm guessing every relevant fed and city and state agency was grilling this kid so rather than take him back to jail, feed him then bring him back to the station they just let them eat there. No big loving deal unless you wanna sensationalize everything. They didn't take him out to burger king and pat him him on the back and tell him good job *wink wink*
