Holy poo poo, I got Pinball Arcade the other day just to see what was out there, and to my surprise, it actually has Addam's Family! God-drat! I thought that Raul Julia's estate was pretty firm on their stance to never let anyone have the rights to distribute that again.

I'm so happy io get to play my favorite pinball game again, even if it is just an emulated software one on a tiny screen. (Though the local barcade near me has the real version, but that gets expensive...also, "local" is like 40 minutes away.)

So far it's very polished, runs well on my Note 4. Gameplay seems to be pretty straightforward match 3, not much innovation. I haven't gotten any premium monsters yet.

It's oddly slow paced, even for a match 3. Most moves don't result in attacks, and every move you make also lets the monsters make one, so you can't just bank a bunch of good potential matches then drop them all at once - the mobs will just throw them at you before then. It seems to feel a bit attrition-ey after a while, but I'm not that far and using the lovely default monsters. The monster abilities you get seem at least halfway interesting, not always just straight damage.

One odd design decision was to consolidate energy and gold into a single currency. Missions cost gold to launch, and you accumulate gold automatically in real time based on which part of the map you're occupying in the story. It presumably means if you don't play for a while, you don't waste 'energy' vs. a cap, but I'm not sure yet if there's any other constraints. You can also apparently spend gold on opening treasure chests, which I guess is good if you don't have time to play on a given day?

It was one of their major Kickstarters I think, to secure the license for the table (another one is the ST:TNG board, which is amazing and awesome and is the only reason why I got the app, because I played the hell out of that table as a kid).

The game seems to live and die by internet connection. I have lovely office wifi and tried to play over my lunch break and it was abysmally slow between missions.

I was just gifted $20 in Amazon (.ca) monies for my birthday, and I'm wondering what to get. I figure since I'm on my phone so much, I might as well put that towards some good games. In the running:

80 Days
Organ Trail (I have it on Steam, and would really enjoy it on-the-go).
Uhh... Ticket to Ride?

Any suggestions? I'd REALLY love GTA: Chinatown Wars, but that's not on the Amazon appstore, so nuts to that. I'll probably pick up 80 Days and Organ Trail, maybe not TtR, since it's almost $7, and I don't think I'll enjoy it THAT much.

Don't know if it's been mentioned but free goon-made game Crossy Road is actually a really great version of Frogger with 96 weird animals to unlock, some of which change the graphics/gameplay. And it appears to not even have ads, unless that's just because I haven't played it with wifi on yet.

I think it came up in the last iteration of this thread, don't think I knew it was goon made though or I forgot. Yeah, it's pretty killer, there's some IAP stuff with those other characters and such but it's super not necessary.

I've played Sproggiwood and Hoplite to death, and just downloaded Pixel Dungeon. With the caveat that I only have a phone, no tablet (so Desktop Dungeons is sadly not an option), what are other good roguelikes?

Fwiw, I liked the variety the Sproggiwood classes provided, but I wished it had a little more depth. On the other side of the coin, I liked the dtrategic challenge of Hoplite but wished it had more challenge.

E: realized I have also played 868-Hack, which for some reason didn't click with me in the same way. Maybe because it felt too much like a straight puzzle and less like an rpg experience with exploration etc.

Did you get stock Pixel Dungeon? There's an open-source mod/update version called Shattered Pixel Dungeon with enhanced and rebalanced mechanics, I recommend checking it out. I didn't play more than a few hours of the first one right after it was available, but so far Shattered seems pretty drat fun. Finally beat Tengu as a Mage after like twenty deaths! :black101:

You could try Progress Quest. It's litterally Idle RPG for your phone, with 0 IAP.

edit: If you prefer something online with other people you could try GodVille, again no IAP.
