Kind of bizarre of them to remove the Trailer Park Boys movie right after financing two seasons of the show

If I recall, that TPB movie was a different studio than the other two.

Ooo, I overlooked that! It was sold out at the only local showing at a film festival. I hoped it would show up on Netflix :)

Welcome to the Punch stars James McAvoy and Mark Strong, two of my favorite actors. It is also one of the most cliched turds I have ever had the displeasure of watching. British police are funneling weapons into the country so criminals will kill more cops. That way the cops can get weapons and then be safer. Or something. :psyboom:

Netflix keeps trying to get me to watch that. Glad my instinct to avoid it was right.

I am pretty sure someone tells McAvoy he is "a loose cannon" at one point. His tongue was not firmly planted in his cheek as he delivered the line.

Yeah Welcome To The Punch isn't good. I laughed in the beginning when McAvoy hops out of the car and strikes a cool pose while listening for the motorcycles. On a completely empty set of streets too because apparently the city is desolate like I Am Legend. It's just an intensely stupid movie.

Watch Blitz instead.

Unfortunately...

I've been in Greeneville TN visiting my fiance's parents for a while. I'll save you a Google: it's the whitest, shittiest town possible while also being adjacent to two towns that actually have things in them (Knoxville and Asheville). Both are about an hour away.

I grew up in Jonesborough and Johnson City (which both are in the next county over), but I currently reside in Knoxville. Greeneville is a pretty lovely town, but there are worse in that area (see Morristown). That said you should make it to Johnson City, which is pretty a decent small college town (I graduated from ETSU). Mad Max is still on there, and they have one of the best rock clubs in the region (better than anything in Knoxville right now metal wise), The Hideway.

I recommend Locke and Eastern Promises fans check out the Jason Statham film Redemption. It's from the same director/writer and it's pretty good. Uneven, but an honest attempt by Statham at something deeper and I still think about it occasionally.

Hell yea, Netflix has been rewarding my irrational cheapness recently. Instead of paying $5 to rent I just pine away for months on-end hoping Netflix will help me out. So far this summer its been working out, first Nightcrawler, now this!

Small world - the owner of The Hideaway is a guy I've known for 20 years! Yeah, it's a good place but when we go out we usually go to The Pilot Light or the Fort Sanders Yacht Club. Knoxville is a cool place.

I have lived in Knoxville since 2004, and had no idea who this dude was. Just read an article about his death, and he sounded like one cool guy that lived life to the fullest. That said I actually thought Fort Sanders Yacht Club was some yuppie place (Yelp just informed me I was very wrong). I mostly hang out in Market Square (Preservation Pub), or Old City (Barleys and The Pilot Light), but I guess I need to visit the Yacht Club soon.

Sorry for derail.

I had no idea there was a sequel to Monsters, but I see Gareth didn't direct it and the reviews are pretty terrible.

I've started watching China,IL on Hulu in between long stretches of SG-1 and it's a drat funny show. The episode where Baby Cakes gets a porn-mag had me in tears.

SG-1 is also really good and is filling that Star Trek/Farscape shaped hole in my heart rather nicely. Are any of the other Stargate series worth watching?

SG: Atlantis is good and is pretty similar in tone to SG:1 (it starts slow in my opinion, but picks up around episode 9.) Everyone else on the boards will tell you that SG: Universe was an amazing show that was killed in it's prime. I do not feel that way.

Does anybody have any info on why Jodorowsky's Dune isn't available for streaming anywhere? You can buy it from various services for a little under $15 but there's no rentals at all. It seems like the kind of movie destined to show up on Netflix at some point.

It was on Netflix for a while. I'm not sure when/why it was removed though.

Wet Hot could easily survive a split-up cast like Arrested Development had. The groups in the movie were separated for most of the runtime anyway.

If anyone who saw Kink has HBO Now, there's an episode of Real Sex from probably 1999 featuring the CEO of the porn company from back when he was just the head of an internet startup with a remote-controlled dildo and a dream. I think one of the mechanical sex things he had was featured in the movie. Real Sex is the weirdest 90s time capsule. Do they ever put up old Taxi Cab Confessions?

Peep Show is one of my favourite all-time comedies and while the cringe element is always there,, I do feel like later seasons/episodes balance it out with other humour better than the first season.
