Maybe the trailer house just made a lovely spoiler free trailer, which is why it tested poorly? Also I understand your point, but your post is written in a stupid and inflammatory way.

Sorry if I sound touchy, I know and work with these stupid mongoloids. Most big budget films have at least three vendors, usually more, doing several versions of trailers competing for the finish and many of them are tested. We recently finished the trailer for Pixels and the version we finished was 43, not counting all the Alts and Revs. Eight other trailer houses competed and over six hundred total versions were watched by Sony. They tested dozens of times, spending unthinkable amounts of money. I guess I'm a little guilty of writing in a stupid and inflammatory way but nobody wants to be told they're to blame, it works both ways. Studios aren't somehow ignorant that some people don't want to be spoiled but it is necessary to occasionally do it to add scope and story. Otherwise people go "meh" and that's the worst reaction you can have.

I'd say it's pretty good for an "unedited" book. Incredibly nerdy, but that goes with the territory. Also FWIW, there aren't any major spoilers in that trailer. As Rougey said, it's about the journey. Of course Matt Damon is going to survive, it's how he does it that's interesting.
I listened to an interview he did with Adam Savage; when he posted it online chapter by chapter people reading it would point out things he hosed up with the science, so he went back over it over and over again. By the time it reached the publishers editor they only had some minor tweaks but otherwise left it as it was online. About the only thing the Author laments is one thing involving adventures in reducing hydrazine - basically he messed up the math and Watney couldn't have survived. This was only pointed out to him after the hard copy was published - otherwise, he either got the science right or corrected it based on the feedback he was getting.

Same. Emily Blunt convincingly plays a badass, and she looks badass here. I hope she continues this trend of taking on roles where she plays a badass.

That's really neat. I'll be the first to admit that the prose wasn't spectacular, but the plot and the characters kept me hells of entertained, and I'm glad for his success with the book.

I'm not sure if this was discussed yet or is it just my brain but I was just watching the Martian trailer and it looks like Scott is reusing the duststorm footage from Prometheus, to me it looks really similar (the costumes also) Just like he used some Prometheus footage in Exodus. That seems kind of lazy.

"Jesus, did I say that? Or just think it? Was I talking? Did they hear me?"
I read an article the other day about ID4 2 that detailed some plot points from the new movie, one of which is how humanity has cannibalized the alien technology left behind from the first invasion, and created hybrid human/alien jets and transports out of it, and that the whole planet is ultra paranoid about when the next wave of ships is going to show up and try to kill them.

Sounds rad.

Did you see The Marked Ones? It was a spinoff unrelated to the core numbered movies and it was easily the most fun of any of them.
