He seems to basically become Emhyr 2.0:Northern Realms Edition. Ruthless, but competent rear end in a top hat tyrant.

You spend a lot of time doing monster CSI stuff throughout the game so her "let's investigate what happened" approach probably appeals to most players more than Hjalmar being an idiot and rushing off.

I felt like it was the intended canon choice, in the same way that Yen is over Triss. Besides, there's no way Hjalmar knew who was responsible. (did he??)

So I was playing tonight, and got to the estate where your first horse race occurs. I won (and got the saddle) and then started poking around a bit before heading back.

I noticed that I couldn't get into the estate properly via gates/doors, but managed to jump over a couple of walls and go inside and I think I ended up someplace I wasn't supposed to be yet, because I found a naked woman in bondage kneeling on a bed who showed up red to my witcher senses, but I couldn't actually interact with her. I got worried at that point that I was going to break my game somehow, so I loaded a save from back outside the gate.

Can someone confirm/deny that I wasn't supposed to be there yet, and I'll come back here later officially on some quest?

Nope, except oxenfurt arc you barely talk.

Also Triss is the wrong choice because in the books she creeps on him and is then taking advantage of the fact has amnesia in the Witcher 1/2. Any choice other than Yennifer is really not very Geralt.

I've warmed to Triss during the course of the games. With first I've picked Shani and didn't trust Triss. By the time second ended I was in team Triss. She grows a lot in the span of the games. I wish her story in regards to battles of Sodden Hill was explored.

Also, with regards to the nudity, it cracks me up that apparently you can show naked boobs all day long (male and female), but lower area nudity is forbidden - forget Geralt's dong, there's nary a butt to be seen, and most of those are clad in modest underwear.

You see butts. Genital nudity has pretty much always been reserved for NC 17 or porn, so nothing new there.

Finished the game! Overall I loved it, nothing negative to say except the kinda awkward movement. I loving hate the sliding mechanic, it's so infuriating. Story was alright, gameplay was cool.

I gotta say this is the best looking game ever so far. It's like Crysis release again, this just set the bar so high I don't think we'll see anything top it for a few years. Kaer Morhen is the most beautiful area in video games ever. Now onto Witcher 1 and 2

Geralt has a loving enormous turning circle. I was absolutely poo poo at going down stairs because I'd keep walking along the banister and then falling at the end since I couldn't angle myself properly.

Easily the worst part of an otherwise perfect game. I sometimes felt like Luigi, slipping about all over.

I think it has to do with consoles and linking animations with control input which feels terrible. Geralt loves turning in the opposite way I want him to move.

Someone offed his beloved king, it was understandable.
All Zoltan sacrifices are a couple nights of work in cabaret, if he dies he'll be missed by few, despite being cool bro.
Roche is all that keeps what's left of Redanian forces together. If he and Ves dies the resistance is over.

Manatee Cannon

Roche isn't keeping Redania's forces together, he's keeping a small band of Temarian loyalists together. The resistance is over regardless of what happens to him, though.

You can't just handwave that stuff that he does to you though, that's nuts. And saying "well he won't be missed" is not an actual argument and also insane.

Yeah, I've mixed kingdoms, he keeps Temeria alive. I like him more than Zoltan, I find Zoltan onedimensional. He's fun to be around and a total bro, but so is Roche. And Roche has more going for him.

Just finished the game. A little under 90 hours play time but I was kinda rushing towards the end and didn't explore as throughly as I could have.

Absolutely fantastic game. I made a word salad I posted on Facebook but it repeats a few points I've seen worked over in this thread, so I'll just say that it's gonna be a long, long time before I play another game as good as this one.

I think the best part about this game is that everything you do feels like it's a natural part of the world. All the side quests are their own little stories, or big stories in some cases, and the people involved in them are invested in their outcomes, there's no "collect X number of rat tails and I'll make you a potion" bullshit here, the NPC's feel like they're actual people, with concerns and worries and lives; that takes a fuckload of writing work to pull off and this game makes it seem downright effortless.

One other thing I'd like to mention, I really like how all the animation for Geralt look like they've been kept from Witcher 1. I thought it was just the run they kept the same, but after watching some footage from that game I'd almost swear they kept all the sword animations too, which is nuts cause the sword fighting is actually good in this game.
