Only thing I can think to do is uncheck it from your game, then add it back in and see if that helps, or reload an earlier save?

Yup, pretty much. Though they do get better as it goes on.

While reading the books I started thinking about them as a hardboiled detective and a femme fatale. The relationship is pulpy as gently caress. (though Yen does more than seduce people to get what she wants)

I ended up loading an earlier save, which sucks because I lost an hour or so of progress.

Edit: Actually, I think I might've found out what the issue was. The contract initially involves a place called Honorton, correct? I was faffing about around there, approached the village, Geralt mentioned that he smelled carrion, I saw some red skull ghouls and I left. This might've triggered me having gotten the quest, even though it wasn't in the quest list.

Hey does anybody know if the expansion packs will be integrated into the main game or will they be separate campaigns? Because it's a shame that I finally get the Wolf School gear but I already beat the game before the DLC came out so now I have a very little to use them on.

Hey Comte, I have a teeny tiny request for you and the team.
In the quest Family Matters if you decide to change the Botchling into a lubberkin you have to escort the Baron and have 2 fights with wraiths on the way. For the love of god please put a checkpoint after the first set of wraiths because the second fight is terrible due to Geralt getting stuck on the loving scenery whenever you try to dodge and dying really, really quickly on death march. Going all the way back to before the cutscene and having to slog through it all again is pretty frustrating. So a checkpoint (or just being able to make a manual save would help) and maybe do something about the terrible collision in that second area.
Thanks!

Oh I play with a mouse - I can't even fathom using a controller in the menu. I still find it awful that I have to hit i, click the right tab, then scroll in that tiny window and hover over each potion since a lot of them have the same image. Anything that saves steps in that is worthwhile. Before I sold my books, I just didn't use more than 2 potions, it was too annoying.

I play with a controller, but I switch to mouse whenever I have to do anything remotely intensive in the menu.

I checked and there's actual a technical reason for this, so there's not really anything to do for it at this point, sorry. It sounds like a simple thing (and normally it would be) but there's actually some very special case stuff going on here that doesn't interact with the save system well.

Oh well, thanks for checking it out at least even if nothing can be done. I'll shelve that particular quest until I level up a bit more to ease the pain. I've managed it other difficulties so I'll get it on this one too.

If you load a save game while the Baron is holding the botchling the botchling literally explodes.

Sounds like you need a Witcher to lift the curse!
Geralt would help but he's currently trapped against an ankle height fence being slapped about by wraiths and is too busy dying to help right now :buddy:

Yeah, my least favorite thing is when I'm running through the scenery and a wolf/harpy 40 feet away means that instead of jumping onto a ledge I summersalt into it forever

So how is the mood within CDPR? Is the company/employees happy with the sales? How did you avoid getting fire? I hear game studios pretty much fire everyone involved in any given game after release.

Layoffs usually only happen when a game does more poorly than expected. This can still be after a "successful" title that makes a lot of money, but if it doesn't make as much money as projected, budgets have to be rebuilt and costs need to be cut. A lot of studios bulk up to ship a title and then need to cut people at the end because they can't afford the extra peeps long-term. This is especially true of MMOs, where you need twice as many people to ship as you need to operate and maintain.

I obv can't comment on anything specific, but it's not super interesting in my part of the world.

alex314

I hope your bosses had realistic expectations, but from what I've gathered they are fine with working that RPG niche and building company and franchise name. Noone sane expects Wither 3 to ship more copies than Batman, Fallout or Mass Effect even with the whole "Game of Thrones game we've all been waiting for" vibe.
As for what's next for the franchise (after expansions) I'm torn: on one hand I wouldn't mind a couple of smaller games set in the same/similar world, maybe different time with decent branching stories and ~50 h playtime. On the other hand it might be seen as AssCreed style franchise exploitation.

I haven't seen it, or maybe just didn't pay any attention in a heat of battle. I think it happened with some nonhuman enemies. They leave the loot pile at your feet so it doesn't bother me.

Not really much or any swimming to do at all. As soon as you crash land on Skellige, look around your shipwreck and he's on the ground by the side of the hull that would be hidden from your initial view point.

On inventory chat, CDPR did a great job, I think, in being able to switch between mouse and game controller seamlessly. I like using the mouse for the inventory and the gamepad for everything else. I generally pare down the stuff I have rather regularly, selling or dismantling crafting items and junk like hides. I know I will likely keep the Witcher sets though.

Is there any benefit or drawback to mix and match with Witcher sets? Using bits of armor or swords from one set or another?

Set gives you similar bonuses, but it's not Diablo, where you get something extra for having 6/6 equipped. Many people use armor from one set and swords from another. Some people take armor type specific skill, and only griphon and wolf are of the same class (medium). I generally tried to stick with one set since it maximizes the skill I plan on using the most, but by the end of the game I was so overlevelled that it didn't matter. I'll probably skip witcher armours altogether in my next playthrough and limit my use of signs.

There's three armour skills that give bonuses based on how many pieces of light/medium/heavy you have on.
Otherwise not really.
