Considering how many people you've claimed to votekick, I've got a strong impression that you have issues with blaming other people instead of just nutting up and getting it done on your own. The only votekicks I've ever had to do were for people who were offline and one guy who asked us to vote kick him because he queued up for the wrong dungeon, and he was pretty nice about it. Like, you had a paladin who could stoneskin pretty much whenever the gently caress he wants because there's no physical damage in that fight (unless he somehow didn't take stoneskin, in which case I'd be curious to find out what he did take) and a monk who probably took bloodbath because what else is there to take, and a bard who can play manasong for the paladin to stoneskin. That fight is incredibly doable without a healer as long as the rest of you have at least some of your poo poo together, which means there's blame to go around, even if a good portion of it is the healer's.

I'm not sure how you would fill up four bars with combat actions just from going to lvl 60. :o I'm counting each set of 8 as a "bar" in this case, although that's probably the wrong way to frame it since the game considers two sets of 8 a bar. In either case it's just a matter of terminology and the point is you can just barely cram all of your combat actions onto the bars you have readily accessible with a controller.

Is there some trick to the encounter in the level 59 story quest? Close Encounters of the VIth Kind I'm a 59 NIN, iLevel 142. I get the guy down to about 50% health then Alphinaud just stops healing me and Yshtola gets pulled out of the ring taking care of adds and I get taken down quick. What am I doing wrong? Never mind, figured it out: when you need healing, move toward Yshtola, and despite her being out of the ring, she'll top you up. SirPhoebos posted:Two questions: Bonus points in strength. Keep both strength and vitality accessories around, usually run with the strength ones, and swap in one or more vitality accessories if you feel like just a bit more HP would make a difference. More important is to keep your weapon (for threat) and your leftside armor (for defense) up to date and, if white/crafted, preferably high quality. (Also stick to the WAR/PLD/DRK gear, not generic Disciple of War.) Most jobs can blithely ignore the defense stats on armor but it makes an appreciable difference on tank squishiness. If you're not a crafter yourself, fellow goon crafters can make you poo poo for free or much cheaper than the auction house prices.

SirPhoebos posted:Two questions: Here's the deal with tanking stats: extra Vitality is good up to a point, with that point being largely determined by your level of comfort with tanking, and the type of content that you're tanking. It's there to provide extra leeway to your healer(s), acting as a buffer before you die that lets them squeak in an extra heal. In the most general case, you need enough Vitality to survive large boss hits and sudden bursts of damage from packs, with the rest being superfluous. The more comfortable you are at using your cooldowns appropriately, and the better your group is, the less Vitality is important. Strength is useful for holding enmity and for ending encounters quicker via damage, and it's what you want to max, attribute-wise, when you get comfortable enough with tanking. A good example of this is Ravana Extreme. If you wear nothing but Vitality gear and max out your Vitality bonus points, you can actually survive a single Blinding Blade without another player mitigating it or with a cooldown used, and I've seen a few tanks crawl back from 300 HP after eating a full one. After you get someone who can soak every Blinding Blade, though, having that extra Vitality is a gigantic waste, especially since many fights have stringent DPS requirements. As far as resets go, there's an item you can buy called The Keeper's Hymn from your Grand Company vendor that lets you reset them. They are ludicrously cheap (250 seals per), so it's not a big deal if you invest poorly or want to switch to Strength later. Personally, I invested everything into Vitality when I leveled, sat with that for a while, eventually switched to Strength, and have never switched back. I wonder if they're keeping track of crossbar space. I mean, if they want controllers to continue to be a way to play the game they kind of need to put a ceiling on the number of unique abilities available. I guess they could start adding traits that revamp existing skills (even to the point of creating new animations), but idk. Are there any other MMOs that have aimed to be played with a controller like this one?

At some point, they'll likely do an ability squish along the lines of WoW's (merging superfluous skills or removing ones with limited use) to reduce the amount of buttons needed. For the (very) long term, they'll likely add in some kind of ability customization that lets you tack on an extra effect to the abilities you use. Something like that would allow them to create different playstyles from expansion to expansion while still utilizing the same buttons as before.
