So a few weeks ago on a whim I bought a 1990 RX7 convertible in rough shape thinking it would be a fun project to restore. Well, I'd never done anything like that before and have come to realize that for me, that kind of work isn't fun. In fact it's quite unfun. The car and it's growing list of issues was stressing me out so I got rid of it and bought an NC2 instead. Best feeling car I've ever driven. Miles ahead of the FRS.

Of course its red..... They're ALWAYS red. The NC kicks rear end and this is the perfect time to scoop one up. The act of fixing cars is like the act of losing weight. It sucks while you are doing it and worth it when you are done, dont give up on the FC. Nice! there was a 2013 R ed club at the dealer when I bought my 2008 and I had trouble focusing on the car I was buying and not that one that shirt though

Working on cars is a lot more enjoyable when it's not your only means of transportation and you're not in a time crunch to get things done. It's why everyone should have one perpetual project car and one reliable daily.

Strangely enough, being in Hawaii has made me feel closer. Before if I was in the same state as someone else, chances are that I was a few hours away at least. Insurance decided that my poor blue '06 is totaled. Happily enough they are giving me $1:$1 for what I paid. I'm looking at a replacement one and its a toss up right now between an '06 PRHT and a MSM that looks like someone tried to speed racer. That said, guess I'm just wondering people's thoughts on a NC1 vs a MSM for a daily driver? Obviously it'll depend on how they look once I see them in person, but that turbo worth it?

Ok, so I'm back, alive, in NC, with an NC. Purchased with 31,500 on it, but I just put another 1400 on it over the last three days on the drive. Cost paid without tax: $15,650 Which is not bad, but it also came with these goodies installed (I had a pre-purchase inspection done, the independent tech verified that ll of the add ons were installed properly, etc): Goodwin Racing Roadster Headers, Midpipe, and SS Exhaust Koni Adjustable Shocks H&R Sport Springs FatCat Bump Stops Racing Beat Adjustable front and rear Sway Bars Racing Beat End Links Steel/Poly Motor Mounts IL Motorsports X Brace and Front Powertrain Brace 17x8 OZ Alleggeritas Racing Beat Cold Air Intake StopTech Slotted Rotors SS Brakelines Hankook R-S3s Tires The one thing I'm looking to probably remove are the motor mounts. With the top up the car is just way too buzzy from 2-3000 rpm. The exhaust is a little loud, but not obnoxiously so, and I'm pretty happy with the sound. For reference, I was shopping for about 4 weeks, looking to hit a specific price point, and had some hard requirements (09 or newer, 6 speed manual, prht) Phone, are there any Miata meet-ups in the area worth attending?

As far as another NC vs. MSM goes, I've never driven the former, but I'd probably take it with a PRHT. That being said, I love my MSM. It looks and drives great, and you can definitely notice the turbo. At least drive them both first; you'll probably be able to decide quickly which one you prefer. As a bonus the MSM will [probably] be cheaper if you go that route. Oh yeah, if you go with the MSM make sure to replace the OEM rims if it still has them.

Getting a 2003-2004-2005 Hard-S VVT car and turbo ing it yourself would probibly result in a better condition car for cheaper. Mazda didn't do a great job on the motor of the MSM and the way to fix that is to replace it with a bunch of aftermarket parts anyway. Plus, not being able to hit 7000rpm would really annoy me on some level. Even if its only slightly less
