You can legally do a lot of things to a sheep that they can't consent to. Even pump them full of semen (as long as you're doing it to make more sheep and not for fun). Bestiality laws aren't there because of issues of consent (vegans aside), they're there because the majority of people in those states think that it's gross and don't want it going on.

Oh, that's loving awesome. Because of one or more of these, but mostly the blob starting with "in the 19th century", some very optimistic Bulgarian nationalist still do consider Niš rightful Bulgarian clay. My late maternal grandfather was a collectionaire and I had no idea we also had српски рjечник (apparently with "-je" and not "-e", didn't know that before) among other things. To you Americans in here, it's like a Brit suddenly finding out that he has first printed edition of Declaration of Independence in his attic. poo poo's bananas I tell you whut! Also Salty, wouldn't it be awesome if there is an alternative thread for these things, because EE thread is always dominated by Ukrainian war and Russia and that isn't going to change that soon, while this thread is for maps and not words *wink wink nudge nudge*

Some of them seem to be comparing the general South Slavic settlement area (or large parts of it) to modern-day Slovenia, even though the various different nations hadn't come into being yet. It would be like making a map of the Franks during Charlemagne's time and outlining modern Flanders. It doesn't make any historical sense.

I don't get this map's logic at all. Like, if Luxembourg's claiming cultural proximity, Liège and Limburg would make sense (though why not include Belgian Limburg), and so do, I suppose borderland areas where they speak similar dialects, but why North Brabant and Zeeland? Why Namur, which was actually a vassal territory of Flanders for centuries? I mean, you might as well go whole hog and unify the Benelux countries while you're at it.
