Wow, you guys sure got awfully butthurt about that. I thought it was funny, and I brought it up again because nobody seemed to notice the first time. Relax guys, it's just a car.

I don't see any butthurt. I see a couple people noticing and a ton of people not giving a poo poo.

Alright, so I really, really miss my NA miata, like everyday waking up in a cold sweat miss it. So I'm debating getting rid of my Fiesta ST and getting a ~2007-2010 PRHT NC Miata. I'm leasing my ST now, but considering doing a buyout for ~17K, but it looks like I can get a really solid NC for 10-15k. Is mileage even a concern on these? Are there any big issues I should worry about at all? My Miata had over 200K and never let me down through autoX, mountain beat downs, burnouts, winters, etc - could I expect a similar level of reliability with the NC? I was thinking of getting a new ND, but 30,000 is just too much, id rather save 15,000-20,000 and just get an NC, especially since I can get a hard top. I'm probably going to test drive one locally this weekend, but do a fly+drive to actually buy one, IF I get one.

Caught a quick glimpse of an ND on the wild on my commute this morning. Looks puffy, not sure if I like it. Maybe I'll just stick with the NB. Did those get the PRHT or was that just the NC?

No PRHT for NBs. Or NDs either, so far.

Allright, continuing my mystery shudder issue, the shops I've called about bushing installs have quoted me, like, a poo poo ton to do the full set. Just the lowers front and rear cheapest I've gotten was $450 for labor. I'm thinking this is something I should take on myself in the garage. Buut, my garage is super tiny and I'm not sure if I have enough room to work on a car in it. The garage is about 115" wide, giving me maybe 2ft of clearance on either side of the car. I can open the garage to get unlimited clearance on one end of the car, leaving a bit under 3 ft at the other end of the garage. The garage is on an alley without a driveway so I can't leave it out and I'd really like to be able to shut the garage door on it and leave it up on stands if I need a part or something takes too long. Being able to leave the car for a day if I get stuck will make me much more comfortable with tackling the project. So, how am I going to jack the thing up, and is 2ft enough room to for this kind of work? There definitely isn't enough room to put the jack perpendicular to the side of the car to jack from the pinch weld. Can I safely jack at an angle? I could also buy a low profile jack to do it from the end of the car, but I don't think I'd have enough clearance on the non-door end of the garage. Maybe I could drive one end of the car onto ramps and do one side at a time? Short of buying a quick jack set I'm not sure the best way to get the thing in the air with so little side clearance. I have to completely empty my garage just to get this much space so I haven't tested it by driving the car in yet.

Your "Second NA" buy is the sexy one, you get a 1.6 in a rare color like yellow or smurf. (im trying to talk myself into importing a real eunos roadster when i finish school this year)

Jack it up from the front and the back, put jack stands under it and you'll be fine, 2 feet on each side is plenty, get yourself a creeper and it will make things easier. I use the rear cross brace and front subframe right in front of the oil pan for jack points, easy peasy.

I have a similarly sized garage.

Or pull it in near one side and work on the other. Then switch sides in the garage. You get the point.

Been a while, but mnet trip report: some dude who wanted me to fly out to LA so that he could beat me up is talking about all of the sick mods that he's going to do to his NC in the ND subforum. Emilio released 17x8 and 17x9 renders of the 6UL and a render of an ND build that he intends to do.

So the upper slide pin boot on my right front caliper keeps riding up on the slide pin thread when I torque it down. I've put a poo poo ton of grease in there, wiggled the pin around while I was putting it in, tried various angles on the upper caliper to make it work. The best I can get is still like a millimeter of gap between the end of the boot and the upper caliper frame when I torque it down. All the other boots have just popped over the slide pin and been happy. New boot time? Or just drive it and see what happens?

Went to change the oil on my 1.8 NA yesterday and 2 quarts have disappeared over the past 3000 miles. I called the local Miata specialist and he didn't sound concerned, he said 1 qt every 1k miles is not out of the question. What say you guys?

That's how much oil I would lose in my RX-8, sounds normal for a rotary but that seems like a lot of oil being burned for you.

Seems a bit high. I tend to lose about 1qt per 3k on my 1.8, although I don't drive mine particularly hard.

Most Miatas here (Indiana) seem to be manual. I wonder if it's a function of a Miata pretty much needing to be a fun extra car up here and not primary transportation?

The manual I bought had only been available for a day and probably wouldn't have lasted another. They had a couple of NDs on the lot when I went back a week later to pick up the registration and inspection sticker. Both automatics.

My car was on the lot for a month before I found it. No rust 32,000 miles. A year later and I have put 1/3 of that mileage on top. These cars make awesome daily drivers imo and I cant believe more people dont do it. Gotta have that backseat for the one day out of the year you need to move something I guess.

Probably overkill. ethanol posted:I think mine was just over priced. I paid 15 for it and I really regret that.
