Man, I'm loving In Each Hand a Cutlass' new one. A lovely mix of post rock/ metal and prog.

Hi there, here is a my band's video of two songs we recorded during a live studio session: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UIcB_kBqMB0 There is some post-rock in it, so I think it may be appropriate to post it here.

Hm I didn't know Isis's Oceanic had been remastered. Does it still have the awesome "live" drum sound the original had? I might pick it up if so.

Few more good bands I discovered. Had to sift through a sea of lame ones. All from eastern, northern europe. https://spoiwo.bandcamp.com/album/salute-solitude https://pershagen.bandcamp.com/album/silverarken https://maiak-postrock.bandcamp.com/album/a-very-pleasant-way-to-die https://spurv.bandcamp.com/album/skarntyde

I'm pretty much losing my poo poo right now because I just found out Alcest is coming to my city in October, and the opener is Emma Ruth Rundle from Red Sparowes/Marriages.

Just a heads up that Explosions in the Sky are playing a free outdoor show in Toronto on August 10th. I will be there because it is free and its EITS. I saw them in town when Take Care came out and loved it because hey it's the band I listened to non-stop in college right there on stage and they're playing all the songs I ever dreamed about. However, the rest of the crowd was bored as hell and talking through them so maybe that's how you're supposed to feel at a EITS show. I'm also seeing GYBE in September. So it's a post-rock summer for me!

I admit, when I saw GY!BE I was one of those guys - not really talking, but just sorta gazing at his phone for the entire time because it was on minute 45 of the current drone. I've seen EITS a few times, and only one time were there people being dicks during it, and I think that's because they were opening for another band.

New Caspian track, "Darkfield". This is a pretty different sound for them. Almost sounds like something that would fit in a video game soundtrack for some kind of action game. I'm digging the hell out of it.

I honestly haven't been this excited about an album in a long time. It's old now, but pretty much undiscovered. It's loving genius though, a really unique sound and a surprising amount of restraint. Beast, Please Be Still

Has anyone determined - perhaps through detailed scientific analysis - why Post Rock bands have the most absurd names?

Maybe not entirely post rock bit they deff have post rock elements: the world is a beautiful place and I'm no longer afraid to die I'd love to see some more ridiculous post and math rock names.

A bit more stuff I've been listening too lately. We Lost the Sea - Departure Songs . Former Australian metalcore band turned instrumental. Really good. Especially that second song. Sphaeras - Moirai . Singaporean post rock band which was recommended on In Each Hand a Cutlass' Bandcamp so I gave it a try.
