Don't bench your studs, don't gamble on your first two picks, don't draft players on poo poo offenses no matter how much beat writers hype up their athleticism.

Wilson is getting drafted ahead of Romo/Manning/Roethlisberger and he's an inferior player to all of them. Fuckin' Antonio Brown doesn't bring nearly the same threat to the table as Thomas/Megatron/Green and he's the first overall WR! Granted he's better than a 'decent player', but if we're yardsticking it by talent and measurements then it's hard to find someone who will willingly take a 4.4 5'10 180lbs WR over a 4.4 6'3+ 215lbs+ WR that can also run short, intermediate, and deep routes in real life, and you can bet Brown wouldn't nearly have the same season he did last year if his QB was as dogshit as a lot of guys out there. Fantasy is all about picking high usage guys in setups where their usage will result in a high number of targets or carries that will turn out successful. Amari Cooper blows every other rookie WR out of the water right now but odds are the Ravens are going to be able to get the ball to Perriman more than Carr can get the ball to Cooper. Maybe, could go either way, but again there's a reason why Todd Gurley is getting drafted behind inferior rookie backs or why Sammy Watkins will probably be around the 25th WR taken. You just don't grab good players on bad offenses in the first four rounds, it's a great way to torpedo your draft if you're relying on the T.J. Yeldons of the world to shore up as your top 4 guy.

Josh Gordon, third string Rams RBs, Tannehill, fJax, all players on bad to medicocre teams who are useful or have been useful in fantasy. Even game breakers sometimes. Ruling them out because the team is bad is dumb and silly and go ahead and let others draft them when they win your league.

ODB is a cool cat and essentially won me my big money league last year. But he's young (sophomore slump), he's small for an outside receiver, he's been hampered by his hams and still is going into the season, and he resides in offense with a good amount of viable targets. Regardless of format, I wouldn't take him off the board higher than WR6/7. There are much safer bets in legitimate #1 WRs with proven track records, and on offenses that are either proper run-balanced or entirely pass heavy.

Thank you. I've since changed my strategy to CJ/JJ though. I love Gronk, but I love more the idea of landing Olsen in the 4th or 5th round rather than spending a 1st on Gronk. Side note, one of the best parts of fantasy football is predraft, having talks with your buddies, in person, about your "strategies" and being very manipulative in talking them out of the players you secretly want. 😈😈😈 It's time to ride the PAIN TRAIN again, LeVeon!!

I poked around some analyses of this the last time it came up, and I'm pretty convinced that while the overall performance of WRs as a whole tends to improve until a peak at age 24-26 (usually 3-5 years into their careers), there is also a tendency for the best WRs from any given year to perform slightly worse the next year. It's a pretty straightforward reasoning: when you have a regression line (e.g. the general improvement of young receivers), you also tend to have regression to the mean (i.e. outliers tend to fall towards the center of the distribution upon subsequent samples). I'm still not touching OBJ until the end of the 1st, if that. He seems like the most overdrafted guy in the first three rounds to me. Oh, no, that is something I agree with. He won't match his production last year but it's a little silly to be throwing around terms like "sophomore slump" when talking about a guy who just Calvin Johnsoned the latter half of his very first season.

Predraft is the best part because nobody has hurt you yet. Also with regards to ODB what I like to do is take a historic 2/3 of a season from a rookie and then I extrapolate that over 16 games and draft accordingly. That's the road to glory.

Hey everyone, there's 2 spots open in the free super keeper league (15 keepers, no keeper penalty, 22 total players) from our first year. We had a rough start getting rules together post draft, but our poo poo is together now, so it's all fun and games. This is the thread for it http://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=3654090&userid=0&perpage=40&pagenumber=1 .5 ppr with .1 for qb completions Everyone had a good time last year and I Photoshopped up some plaques for winner, loser, and some other random crap. I'll also be giving out some kind of small reward for the winner this year. If you would like to inherit a team, email me here ddoucette777@gmail.com. Keeper lock date is the 16th, so the sooner the better! here are the two teams that are open's rosters. [s]Team 1 Taken Team 2 Taken If you have any questions, I would comment in the thread (linked in post), as to not um up this thread too much. Anyway, it was great fun last year working with deep rosters and seeing just how poorly you drafted. This year we'll see if those stretch picks start to pay off if you keep them.
