Darthemed posted:Ripley's A little googling shows that the red light, of course, stays red by design. The explanation is translated to English from German traffic planning people so it's not the easiest thing to follow, but my understanding is that the light is essentially on a right turn intersecting with a larger road. They want you to stop and make sure it's safe, but then you're allowed to go (just like how you can turn right on a red in the States). It's essentially acting like a stop-sign. The real mystery is why the city bothers maintaining the yellow and green light on the same signal when they know they will never be used, because the articles I looked at indicate that they do. Also I guess Ripley's has about a 2 month lead time. That's when the stories I saw were published.

I suppose if they ever do need to change the traffic pattern, for road work or whatever, having the other signals already there makes it a little easier. Plus it uses the same parts as any other light, I guess. Johnny Aztec posted:Man, that sword is like something out of an RPG, or an old mythological setting. All it needs is to have been forged in a volcano, during a lightning storm. It's also not as rare as it sounds, all things considered. I used to do blacksmithing as a hobby and as you might expect, the kinds of people who still forge swords in the twenty-first century are exactly the kinds of people who are willing to pay for meteoric iron to make something cool out of, if they can get their hands on it. Occasionally people do silly things like only working on the piece under a full moon or whatever too, basically just to say they did.

Rarebit Fiend (click for huge) Everett True's Vacation Back to 1915, folks. Fritzi Ritz Sick, Sick, Sick (click for big) Text: A STATEMENT BY THE EDITORS We have got rid of Jules Feiffer (who never made a deadline) and have, as his replacement, hired Alvin Camus (age 5). Mr. Camus has impressed the editors with his precocious talent. Residents of West 3rd Street well know his stylish gutter drawings. He also does marvelous likenesses of Ronald Coleman and Virginia Bruce. We are sure he will make the grade. Text: A Statement By the Editors Lawyers for Mr. Jules Feiffer (formerly a Voice cartoonist) have threatened us with suit if we persist in using Mr. Feiffer’s title, “Sick, Sick, Sick” on the strip now being done in this space by Alvin Camus, aged 5. We, the editors, contend that “sickness” is not the special province of Mr. Feiffer alone. Let him sue! The Voice will stand firm on any issue involving freedom of the press. Wee Pals
