HOW ABOUT I LASH YOUR SHIT

Can someone explain, preferably in non-crazy language, what exactly the supposed wrongdoings of Hillary are with regards to email? Hannity spent like half an hour going on about this this afternoon, and it's starting to drive me crazy. Near as I can tell, the argument is:

While Secretary of State, she used non-secure / non-government email addresses and servers, which she wasn't supposed to do. People found out about it, tried to subpoena? the servers, but it turns out she had deleted all the emails at some point beforehand, so that may or may not have been tampering with evidence. Because they weren't secure/government servers, there was a higher chance that Chinese/Russian/ISIS hackers got hold of them. So they want to find out just what she had been sending in those emails, which entails somehow recovering the deleted emails from the servers (which I'm not understanding how that would work, unless they knew what physical hard drives the emails were stored on at Google or Yahoo or wherever?). They want to prove that she was sending (and compromising?) lots of top secret and confidential information, which would then result in hundreds or thousands of charges of evidence tampering?

Or something. The only time I ever hear about this is from Fox or talk radio, so I'm trying to dig out whatever seeds of truth might be in the piles of utter horseshit they're regularly throwing out.

The other night I passed FOX while surfing and Hannity was earnestly, passionately discussing the VERY REAL possibility that Hillary will GO TO PRISON as if it were a serious thing that could happen. Kind of depressing and hilarious at the same time. Depressing that FOX is still considered by "serious" people to be a "news" channel, hilarious because Hannity is a loving ridiculous clown.

There seems to be an interagency argument over whether certain information should be classified, which the right wing is pushing as "Clinton emailed classified information." It'd be retroactively classified and wasn't classified when Clinton got it, and in any case the emails were circulating on unclassified State computers before Clinton received them, so that issue would still exist if Clinton had used government servers (and the ones at fault are State employees).
There's no evidence that Clinton's staff stripped notices of classification, and none of the information in the emails is from sensitive sources.
Clinton voluntarily gave the server to the FBI, the RWM is reporting it as "seized" or "subpoenaed" because Clinton bad. Certain emails might have been deleted from the server, but I don't know any indication that they were deleted outside SOP for that kind of thing.
None of this is anything like what Petraeus did but that won't stop them from comparing it to Petraeus every third loving sentence.

I think what they're accusing her of is storing sensitive information without the proper security, and then destroying evidence on the servers. It seems like the Fox/radio presentation is taking the same route as Benghazi, bringing up every possible accusation against Clinton and hoping something sticks because Clinton bad.

Based on how nobody ever mentions this outside RWM I'm assuming it's irrelevant smoke and mirrors bullshit like the 596739 other Clinton scandals they bring up.

Join me, Comrades
In the Star Citizen D&D thread
I left work late today and was lucky enough to listen to the fine wine of crazy that is Glenn Beck. He apparently has a new book coming out tomorrow that purports to "tell the real story" of Islam. Coincidentally, he received a "mysterious" post on his facebook from a real life homegrown American Islamic extremist:

Totally not fake person meant to create buzz for Glenn's book posted:

Allah said "Say to those who disbelieve: You will be defeated and gathered together to Jahannam (Hell-Fire), and worst indeed is that place to rest.” Qur’aan Surah ãal-Imraan Ayah 12
Allah said, "Take (hold of) them and kill them wherever you find them. In their case, We have provided you with a clear warrant against them." Qur’aan Surah an-Nisaa’ Ayah 91

The day when we capture you cross-worshipping, impure redneck polytheists of the united snakes, not only will we kill you, but also take your women as slaves, and all of your properties and blood will be lawful for us. Have patience, because the Hour will not be established until we have removed your falsehood pagan religion from the world and killed many of you.

It was so laughably transparent as a marketing ploy I actually thought he was making poo poo up until he kept harping on it and linking it back to his book. The idea that any Islamic Extremist anywhere is so worried about Glenn's book as to threaten him on his facebook is absurd. Almost as absurd as the verbage used in that message. I am sure the right-wingers will buy it hook, line, and sinker though.

Use the anger. Use it.

quote:

RUSH: This is Greg in Louisville. Hello, Greg, great to have you on the program. Hi.

CALLER: Hi, Rush. How are you doing today?

RUSH: Very well, sir. Thank you much.

CALLER: Well, look, one thing I agree with you about Trump is his style is refreshing, people like that. I like him. I like that he doesn't take anything from people. He confronts them and he seems not to care what people think, and I like that. I wish we had more of that in American politics. But I think his policies are a disaster. You know, you supported NAFTA and you were wise enough to do that and I think Algore and somebody mentioned you as a distinguished American --

RUSH: Yeah, but he didn't mean it.

CALLER: You were wise enough to support it, and Trump's been a protectionist for 30 years. His policies, I don't know how you can believe anything he says to begin with. He changed his position on every issue, including abortion, you know, even immigration, he was attacking Romney a few years ago. So trust is a big thing, but also I think his immigration policy would be a disaster, and I think it's really un-American. I just think that's not what we are. That he isn't who we are.

RUSH: Okay. Explain why his immigration policy, because that is policy by the way. His immigration stance is now codified as policy. It's not just hyperbole or performance art or whatever you want to call it, but what is un-American about it?

CALLER: Well, I think it sends a message of hostility to immigration. I don't think that's what we want to do. I think that you're very negative about immigration, and I think that's, you know, I just don't think that's a good policy to have. I think the Republican Party can be --

RUSH: Wait a second. This is a good point. I'm not hostile to immigration or negative to immigration. I am hostile to illegal immigration and the accommodation of illegal immigration, and I am hostile to the fact that we have given up assimilating immigrants to the American culture, the American way of life. We're losing the country here, slowly but surely.

CALLER: But what we're doing is placing the federal government in charge, like with E-Verify, you're gonna have to go to Obama to get permission to hire somebody just because you're afraid some Mexican might come across and do somebody's garden. I mean, it's ridiculous. Conservatives talk about small government, they want to put the federal government in charge of employment. It's a disaster.

RUSH: Wait a minute. Which conservatives are you talking about here that want to do that?

CALLER: E-Verify. Republicans support that. You support that, I believe, you said positive things about E-Verify.

RUSH: Wait a minute, you're putting a lot of words in my mouth. A, I'm not a Trump supporter.
B, E-Verify, the only thing I've come out in support of is opposing every immigration plan I've heard and unfortunately I've been lobbied like you can't believe.

CALLER: Rush --

RUSH: I've been brought to meetings, I've been told, "If you call it amnesty, it's dead." And then they tried to tell me why it isn't amnesty. And I've heard about this card and what it adds up to is a national ID for people, you know, because everybody --

CALLER: Yes. Yes.

RUSH: Where did you see me raise my hand in support of it?

CALLER: You've talked about E-Verify in the past I believe and said positive things about it.

RUSH: It's not even in my lexicon. You could do a keyword search of my website for E-Verify, you'll never find the words coming out of my mouth, and if you do, it'll just be to report on it, not to support it, 'cause I can't even right now tell you what the hell it is.
http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/daily/2015/08/17/caller_trump_s_immigration_plan_is_un_american
He's at least right about not being able to find explicit support on his website for an e-verify system, but he is undoubtedly a liar when he says he is not a Trump supporter  That is part of why Limbaugh is a slippery weasel: he'll never actually say he supports anything concrete. That way when it turns out to be the wrong choice he can claim he never supported it in the first place and gloat to his listeners that he is right 99.99% of the time while in the next breath go on an hour long rant about the thing that he never supported in the first place and how great some brave, heretofore never before heard of, Republican politician is for supporting it.

Accusing her of destroying evidence was kind of a :master: play on their part. If the original charges ever lose their luster, Fox can complain (and Trey Gowdy can waste government resources failing to prove) that she destroyed the evidence that proves she destroyed evidence.

The wrongdoings *could be* a whole bunch of things. And frankly it would take a half hour on the short side to explain all the potentials, caveats, exceptions, violations and interpretations.

The short side of the issue is she is an idiot for using a private email instead of a government provided one for official business. If she had done that and kept her private one for telling Chelse about vacation plans and wishing her donors happy birthday, none of this would be an issue.

The real problem here is it raises the question of her handling of potentially sensitive information. Which is a big deal. If you can not maintain a security clearance because you don't properly handle rated material, then you can not be president. It doesn't mean she did anything malicious or tried to cover something up. She could just be a moron. But that doesn't excuse mishandling sensitive material, just ask anyone who has had a secret or need to know clearance. The briefings you get all the drat time tell you as much. Of course that goes out the window if it was rated after it got emailed to her, which is entirely possible.

Also there are a bunch of potential violations dealing with Freedom of Information Act which matters for transparency, and a whole bunch of regulations regarding government communication. She didn't help her cause when she tried to stonewall releasing stuff despite at least one court order to do so. It becomes a matter of interpretation and "spirit of the law" arguments as to whether or not she did something illegal.

TL;DR: She makes bad choices and might not understand/care about important rules in handling government documents. But unlikely that any real crime was committed.

There is one literally just a bit up thread of you. Raising the SS contribution cap. She didn't have it in her 2008 platform and said she wasn't going to raise it when asked but now she's talking about it.

She has long supported raising the min wage and lead a successful push to do so in 1996 as First Lady. In 2007 she authored a bill to raise it to 9.50 and then index it to the salaries of congress ( I thought that was cute ):

https://www.govtrack.us/congress/bills/110/s2514/text

But now she's part of the fight for $15.

http://arcaregiving.org/littlerock/2015/06/22/hillary-clinton-tells-fight-for-15-we-need-you/

That's a bigger leap than she would probably have taken without evidence that it won't get you laughed out of office ... After all, more than doubling the current min wage does sound like a crazy pipe dream.

Google her platform now and compare it to her 2008 platform. She's making good use of the cover provided.
