On the moon... they don't make Neo Kobe Pizza.

I dunno Getsuya, I've read the Amazon.co.jp page for LoL and the top review kinda makes it sound really hard, tedious, and boring in a non-SaGa way. I'm really interested in seeing how it reviews in the West but I've got an inkling suspicion that it'll crater like Minstrel Song did because despite a bunch of people saying JRPGs are too easy they don't want to play one that's really difficult. Then again maybe LoL is just artificially hard? Every English review for the Japanese version I've read is either A) "I don't get SaGa games, what is this?" or B) "This is a Japanese 3DS JRPG and I loving LOVE IT JRPGS WOO" so there's no real middle ground.

It should be said that a lot of the ex-SaGa guys behind Legend of Legacy aren't, by and large, THE SaGa guys. The director's only prior credit is a Pokemon Mystery Dungeon game, game design from the guy who thought Unlimited SaGa's battle system was a good idea, and speaking of Unlimited SaGa they got that soundtrack guy to come back and make another really boring soundtrack. On the plus side, they did get the key illustrator back. The rest are all an assortment of people who had nothing to do with the franchise.

Meanwhile, series creator Akitoshi Kawazu has assembled his own team (like good SaGa soundtrack guy Kenji Ito) at Square-Enix to make the first new non-browser/mobile SaGa game in 13 years for PlayStation Vita. Legend of Legacy is FuRyu and Atlus slapping a "From the people who brought you..." on the cover and desperately hoping you don't look up the credits.

I went through the list of people they were touting back when the game is announced and while the director is some random Level-5 dude the others aren't just randoms - the lead designer, for instance, did the battle planning for both RomSaGa 2/3 and both Frontier games as well as Unlimited Saga, and the others all actually did stuff worth mentioning, too.

I don't think people are gonna be bothered that this game doesn't feel authentically SaGa-y; we've seen enough of the battle system to know how similar it is, so the bigger issue is going to be people buying the game and realising they don't actually like SaGa.

Nah, NISA meant early 2016, they just suck at seasons.

Is there anything wrong with the Ace Attorney Trilogy on the eshop? apparently it's part of the Capcom sale, and I never had a DS to play them when they first came out.

Think they're down to $23

God, I hope so. Nearly a year and half of wait would be absurd, but I have seen that repeated in quite a few places that I assume it's indeed the official date.

Just get them, they're great. You don't even have to wait for the slow text scroll like in the originals, which makes it the ultimate version.

I tried watching a Japanese Let's Play of it on Youtube to decide for myself but blind/no battles edited out LPs of RPGs like this are long, boring, painful watches and it doesn't help that none of the commentators had anything interesting to say. The only thing I can say from watching the videos that is a huge plus is they finally gave you more to do with a shield than just defend yourself. Using a shield as your main 'weapon' is a legit tactic in this game, and that's a refreshing design choice that I'm interested in.

The magic system, on the other hand, seems obtuse. Maybe if I watched longer one of the LPers would have figured it out enough to explain it.

Edit: It also doesn't help that none of the LPers has come close to finishing the game. Unless of course it's possible to finish it in 18 half-hour episodes.

The only thing bad about them is that the "HD" graphics don't actually look better in any way than the original sprites, and a lot of the time look worse.

But that doesn't really matter if you've never played the games. The games are amazing and worth playing regardless so get them.

The other thing you might have heard of being wrong with the Trilogy was that the original iOS release of it was rife with typos. This is not the case in the 3DS version.

Why does everyone think I'm going to get in trouble?

Other sins of the iOS Trilogy that were rectified for 3DS:
  • Missing frames of animation.
  • GBA-quality music for AA2 and 3.

The iOS Trilogy was a garbage package but the 3DS version is probably the best way to play the original 3 games nowadays so if you've never played them, go download it right now!

Anyone have a good guide to teaching Fire Emblem?

I've been poking at it, but god drat do I suck at it. Basically at the start of a fight I'll pair up my guys and try and set up for battle, but it feels like I get swarmed by enemies no matter what. I can't rush out and take them out, if I sit back they gang up on me... what am I supposed to do?

I'm not necessarily the best player but speed is super important and knowing the weapon triangle helps a lot. also you're playing the one you can grind on so that's always an option

Manatee Cannon

In Awakening you should always have people paired off because one good unit is better than two mediocre ones in Fire Emblem. Most of the fighting will take place on enemy phase; that's just Fire Emblem. You're trying to minimize the potential damage the enemy army can inflict on you during their phase, so pick your targets carefully and make sure you know how many enemies can attack you before committing to a move. You can make the game display the entire enemy army's movement range and highlight specific enemies to keep your high priority targets' movement in mind. I wouldn't worry too much about it though. You can play on normal or hard/casual and get a feel for the game.

You can mark enemy movement ranges individually and as a group. Try to only pull 1-to-3 enemies per turn and take advantage of chokepoints.

Buy a wii u and download the GBA Fire Emblem

Also which battle specifically are you talking about? Story missions should rarely swarm you, but the enemies in "random" encounters will always all bum rush you from the start because interesting AI is hard

Basic strategy:
1) Press the enemy range button, avoid the red whenever possible
2) Get your highest defense (Frederick, Kellam) to bait out enemies. Have them weaken the incoming enemies.
3) Clean up with your nearby crew.
