New Clinton Email Calls John Boehner ‘Louche, Alcoholic, Lazy’

In a newly-released email sent to then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton by her close advisor Sidney Blumenthal, Speaker of the House John Boehner is described as a lazy alcoholic despised by other Republicans.

“Boehner is despised by the younger, more conservative members of the House Republican Conference,” Blumenthal wrote in 2010, citing “Republican sources” he had. “They are repelled by his personal behavior. He is louche, alcoholic, lazy, and without any commitment to any principle.”

Blumenthal also accused Boehner of trying to “buy the members with campaign contributions,” adding that “his hold is insecure. He is not [former Speaker Newt Gingrich], the natural leader of a ‘revolution,’ riding the crest into power. He is careworn and threadbare, banal and hollow, holding nobody’s enduring loyalty.”

“Boehner is beholden and somewhat scared of his base. He twitches when they make gestures that might undermine his position. His impulse is to hand out money,” he added.

She also swapped stories about Obama's falling approval numbers and how to not get tied up in them and has a mancrush on Martin O'Malley. Still no communications from her time coordinating with Al-Qaeda during Benghazi.

Santorum has nothing better to do with his time (nor does Perry, of course), and George Pataki and Jim Gilmore love the opportunity to get out of whatever basement they've spent the last decade in. Lindsey Graham is motivated by pure spite and scorn and isn't going anywhere.

Santorum said on Friday on Real Time that he has no intention of dropping out. His logic is that he was polling at 1% at this point in the 2012 cycle and he ended up finishing second in delegates.

Jeb! attempts to hit back at Trump again:

quote:

A visibly perturbed Jeb Bush escalated his war of words with Donald Trump on Tuesday, blasting the Republican frontrunner as "not a conservative” in English- and Spanish-language interviews during a Miami campaign event.

“He attacks me every day — he personalizes everything,” Bush said in Spanish to reporters, giving one of his most personal responses to Trump that his rival won’t hear in English.

“If you’re not totally in agreement with him, you’re an ‘idiot,’ you’re ‘stupid,’ you have ‘low energy,’ blah, blah, blah,” Bush said, in a sign that Trump’s criticisms of his energy levels are getting to the former Florida governor. “That’s what he does.”

Asked if the campaign was getting personal, Bush told an English-speaking reporter: “It’s all personal for him, sure — mischaracterizations of my views, longstanding views. I’ve written a book about it. If he was interested in actually knowing my views, he could read the book. And he would know that I’m for border security and in a practical way that won’t cost hundreds of billions of dollars like what he’s proposed.”

Jeb, Jeb, Jeb. Nobody cares about your stupid book.

So what would make things likely for Bernie to win the nomination/general election against the likes of Trump and the GOP?

The things that would cause Bernie to win the nomination would be more than enough to give him a pretty easy win in the general; he'd be riding a populist wave and seeing massive voter turnout largely because he'd need those things to defeat Hillary in the first place.

Being a rich rear end in a top hat is pretty much the core part of Trump's appeal, though. As for being out-of-touch, he seems to be resonating with the GOP base a whole lot better than ol' Jeb! is right now.

Cruz being on a debate team in school doesn't mean much when these debates aren't the same kind of format nor does he have the ability to trade barbs with Trump. Trump being able to rip in to people is natural to him while Ted Cruz is the enlightened dumb rear end who fillibustered something by reading a book about a character who hated something until he tried it. The only smart thing Cruz has done lately is kiss Trump's rear end rather than try to fight him with the others since Cruz is (also) hated by the GOP for his stupid loving around.
Cruz, like Obama was head of the Harvard law review, but unlike Obama, Cruz has argued 9 cases before the Supreme Court. He clerked for the chief justice of the Supreme court and was solicitor general for Texas (eg the lawyer that Texas uses when it has to goto federal court). Alan Dershowitz called Cruz 'off the charts brilliant.'

This is something none of the other candidates come close too when talking about matters involving law or the Constitution.

The guy is amazing to listen to and during the Assault Weapon ban committee hearings ins 2013 he wiped the floor with Charles Schumer and Diane Fienstein making them look like complete loving retards.

Watching him vs Trump would be hilarious as Trump would just come off as a bully and look like an idiot, and I like Trump.

I'll say it, over and over, Cruz would have easily fit in with the Founding Fathers as far as his knowledge and respect for the laws and if we get Trump in 2016 Cruz as VP or AG would be awesome.

You seem to be under the mistaken belief that the GOP voters decide who wins an argument based on the quality of the argument presented rather than who shouts the loudest and gets in the most "zingers".

No one is denying Cruz could outdebate Trump in a court of law, or a debate that was actually moderated and scored effectively. But Trump can outshout, and so he'd win.

From MSNBC:

Bernie Sanders: Presidential Candidate Says He's Not Running Campaign Against Hillary Clinton

quote:

"This campaign that I am running, let me reiterate, is not against Hillary Clinton or anybody else,” Sanders told MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell after she asked him several questions about Clinton.

“I have known Hillary Clinton for twenty-five years,” Bernie Sanders said. “And I know her to be a very hardworking, intelligent person, somebody I work with in the Senate. So I am sorry. I am not going to get into the media game Andrea of attacking, making personal attacks against Hillary Clinton. I just am not going to do that. I don’t think that is what the American people want. And I think we have got to focus on the real issues. Why is the middle-class disappearing and almost all new income and wealth going to the top one percent? Why don’t we have a trade policy that works for the American worker and not the CEOs of large corporations? Why do we have a system where families can’t afford to send their kids to college. Lot of issues to be talked about. You’ll forgive me but I am not going to get into attacking Hillary Clinton personally.”
