Saw Motorhead with Saxon and Crobot on Tuesday. I'm surprised Lemmy was able to get out of Europe long enough to come to the states, not to mention only a 45 minute drive away! Crobot was pretty good. Very animated stage presence and passable music. I wasn't chomping at the bit to look their stuff up afterwards but I enjoyed watching them perform. Saxon was great. They delivered pretty hard and I was into it more than I thought cuz I haven't heard anything by them besides "Wheels of Steel." With as much energy as they had you'd think they were the ones on tour and Lemmy was tagging along (Battering Ram was pretty drat good). Motorhead's set was good but lackluster. I wish they would have played more newer stuff than "Lost Woman Blues" (still, one of my favorites off Aftershock), instead of bumming around on Ace of Spades and Overkill's tracklist. I guess Lemmy being fresh off his lung infection meant he wanted to keep it simple, and that was fine. He might have had to take a few breaks to do a full set, which were covered up by Phil and Mikkey Dee doing solos for a couple minutes. Mikkey's fuckin nuts and you wouldn't think they were over 50 with the rear end they tore up there. We got rained out before any meet-and-greet could happen, but Phil did swing by for some autographs and photos. I drew a picture for them to sign and I'm glad I at least got one signature: (during the encore I think Lemmy saw the picture while scanning the audience and smiled, but I could just be self-serving) I'm glad Lemmy was able to power through a full set after what he went through the past few weeks, but it's a bummer that I wasn't able to see him at full strength. Last night I went to see GWAR. The universe conspired against my friends coming so I wore three extra white tees on my arms and head. I went to see them last year, and while they were good then they were even better this time. It feels like the group is getting more comfortable adjusting to the hole Oderus left. However, the biggest surprise that night was the opening acts. Thorhammer was okay, but the personality of the singer between songs kept things amusing. Battlecross was great; really good thrash, and it was nice to see a local band kicking rear end as much as they did. They would have been the biggest surprise if Butcher Babies didn't perform after them. I never heard anything about them, so seeing two ladies come on and belt out the vocals like they were was fuckin bonkers. It was like Arch Enemy but one of them sang with a deeper bass than AE's singer so it was even crazier. I didn't expect an opening band to rile the crowd up as much as they did. One of them even climbed into the crowd to instigate a mosh pit! The main event obviously killed just as much if not more. I was dead center for GWAR's set, and the crowd was smushing us against the rail. I think they aimed right at me a few times, and Blothar and I might have exchanged gestures. The acts were more graphic than last year's was, which was cool cuz there was definitely more crazy energy that night. No Techno Destructo, but Bonesnapper was there to sing the best song of the set. "Sick of You" was a wicked boss way to end the night; I didn't realize just how much I could get into that song. I'm glad GWAR isn't running out of steam yet. With most of the bands I'm into thinking about packing it in past their prime it's nice to see a concert with as much energy as the scumdogs give.

Might as well also clarify I know that BB are pretty run of the mill and I can see why people don't like them, it's just I enjoy them. It's the same way with other post-hardcore/metalcore/whatever bands of the past 10 years like A7X and Pierce the Veil. Am I good now? I didn't mean any harm.
