They should go back to the old style of four stories a season and they're all 4 parts and one is only two. Go full loving Pertwee and give him a crazy rear end car too.

The premise to Face The Raven sounds an awful lot like the short story Reports of Certain Events in London by China Mieville. I wonder if it's coincidence or if there's inspiration/homage there. I love that story so I'd be happy if we were getting a Doctor-based version of it.

She got the short end of the stick with the Ponds sticking their nose into the first half of series 7 cutting her story with Smith kinda short but she was good with Capaldi last year and a second season with him would be good for her to go out on.

Coleman has always seemed desperate to leave. While Clara basically gelled well in the last season I don't think the actress ever did, and it was only the lack of a better offer stopping her. Now that this ITV drama (hahaha) has come knocking she's probably running out the door. Plus the fact there isn't even going to be a series next year and Peter is leaving then too. He will probably have temporary companions for each of the specials or some poo poo.

No, it hasn't, but I know a lot of people are looking for work around here rather than renewing their contracts. I don't actually know anyone from the shows production team, bar the odd cross over runner, but hey, gossip reaches us independent of rumours. I'd say it's understood as fact around here for what that's worth. Plus the one guy who works on the show from these forums was just posting about having to look for work elsewhere.

First I'm hearing about there not being a series next year. Why would they do that? They need time to find a new Doctor or something? Shame. You'd think this was a cash cow for them still.

No Butt Stuff posted:First I'm hearing about there not being a series next year. Why would they do that? They need time to find a new Doctor or something? There was a rumor mentioned that because of the schedule to shoot Sherlock, Moffat wouldn't have time to do a season next year. But it doesn't really make a ton of sense, and I think there was only really one rumor mentioned, so I'm not putting much stock in it. People are just predisposed to believe it from Moffat due to the year of specials and fans holding grudges. Literally the only other times I've heard it are in passing comments in this thread.

Or that was the way it was spun in the publicity at least.

Or that was the way it was spun in the publicity at least. The variation on this that I remember reading was that she wasn't quite sure if she wanted to be with a non-Matt Doctor and told Moffat she wanted out. Time passes and as she films later episodes, she changes her mind and says she likes working with Capaldi and she wants to stay on. This is after Moffat has scripted her leaving, so they change things at the last minute so that Clara stays on.

I'd say it's understood as fact around here for what that's worth. If you mean me, that's because when a series ends, you have no job. DW - like most TV shows - doesn't run 365 a year, and a staff contract is usually season-to-season. People's contracts don't get "renewed" until a series starts. So when S9 wraps, then yes, I'm looking for work because I don't want to not work till it starts again and I do/don't get offered a place. e: for actors/major production talent it may be different, but that's how it works on a departmental level. e2: as if to illustrate my point, the day after my last post I got offered S4 of a job after doing S2 & 3 last year - I wasn't let go, the contract simply stopped and they have only now offered me something now they're ready to go into production. e3: Eastenders and Casualty probably run all year endlessly, but working on those shows is a special punishment for terrible people so it doesn't count. echoplex fucked around with this message at 23:27 on Sep 16, 2015 |

Posting this in this thread as if I'm right it concerns a future episode, but in the UNIT scenes, was that Reece Shearsmith hanging around in the background? I imagine that will become important later but I have no idea how yet.4 EDIT: Yeah, rewatching, they're really obviously showing him while pretending he's just in the background. Classic Moffat. Owlofcreamcheese posted:A new episode came out and this thread is on the third page with zero new posts? Spoiler: Two years ago, Moffat was hit in the head by a coconut, which caused him to lose the ability to write coherent stories. Now all he can do is write a series of random "cool" scenes where characters smirk, do something wacky, or smirk while doing something wacky. Characters have no consistency from scene to scene and may act in ways that completely contradict their behavior and motivation established in a previous scene. Finally, whenever the Doctor's not on screen, all the other characters ask "Where's the Doctor?" Edit: almost forgot, there will be a mysterious rollerskating snake man, and it will be the silliest attempt at badassery ever put on film.
