I've just started, but in my brief experience the sub 200 point games always feel pretty 1 sided to me. After you lose 1-2 models the game can be over on the first turn.

Kind of. They're certainly short and sharp, and the downside is that there's no points room for a backup plan if something goes wrong, but there's also not the sheer weight of orders being deployed against you either. And since it's short and sharp, it doesn't take as long to play. I'm finding it increasingly difficult to justify starting a 3 hour game at 8:30pm on a weeknight.

And losing 1-2 models is super mild for turn one losses in Infinity. I would usually consider it a solid reactive turn if that's all I lost, considering that multiple times I've seen half an army die on turn one due to deployment mistakes.

Crushed my Nomad bud again tonight. We're about 30-2. He was previously Yu Jing but I whooped him so hard and consistently he switched. :getin:

Nomads are much more challenging to play against. Intruders alone make my smoke-camo-template game much harder to pull off without risk. We were playing Highly Classified, and I won by virtue of Impetuous troops clogging him up and bringing the right specialists. Objectives were Test Run, Sabotage, Telemetry, and HVT: Retroengineering. I won with Sabotage, Telemetry, and my secondary Extreme Prejudice versus his HVT: Retroengineering. My MVP was an unused AP HMG Tankhunter who won me the game by virtue of carrying D-charges.

Loving this game. My bud and I have been recruiting. We're approaching a real meta! We've got PanO, Military Orders, Hassassins, and Combined buying starters. Here's hoping they all stick with it.

re: Low points. Yeah, the time sucks. But 300 points is where the magic happens. Half the factions can barely get 10 orders including specialists and fun stuff at 200.

250-300 os the best format. I'm quite partial to 250pts as it makes for really fine list building and choices. You get one or two swag toys but you've also got some constraints with that missing 50pts.

I got to dive out of work early today and me and few mates are down playing some games now. I've been told I've fallen from my lofty, aspiring place as a PanO player as I've just turn one Speculo Killer'd a Marut.

Yeah I've enjoyed my stint with CA. So many cool little unique tricks. But I'm going to backtrack a little now and revisit my NCA for some nice uncomplicated raw firepower gameplay.

Gonna really miss the ol' Speculo. I think I've try to take her in every Shas/vanilla list I've made and she always manages to kill something. Even if getting crit by loving doctor worm basically lost me a game in the last tournament...

I played my first "real" game of infinity last night at the FLGS. It was insanely fun. My opponents Nomads completely crushed my Haqqislam in a 300 point game of supremacy.

I think my biggest mistakes occurred during deployment: He told me this little robot thing was a total reaction HMG, but I didn't know what that was(still really new to the rules) and I figured, i'll find out what that means once it starts shooting me. That was a huge mistake. That little bugger completely crushed me, and I was wholly unprepared for the devastation that was about to be brought down upon me. The side of the board that the bot was covering had a lot more scatter, so my plan was to slowly push up the side with a coordinated team of naffatun and my Akbar Doctor. He had first turn, and completely locked my lasiq down in his active turn, so that the second I tried to activate her, at least 1/2 a dozen AROs were gonna go off, so she wasn't going to be my saving grace for this tiny robot.

I ended up wasting order after order shooting at it with an HMG that was just out of range for the +3. In retrospect I should've used my coordinated orders to clear the way for my HMG to get closer so I could have a better shot at taking down his HMG nest. In the end, I just lost too many orders trying to clear a path forward.

In retrospect, I definitely needed to make better use of my specialists, and should have used them to clear out the snipers perches, or to at least threaten him from advancing on objectives. I also forgot to activate my nasmats alongside my doctors. So they ended up spending most of the game behind a wall being useless.

I almost didn't go last night, but i'm so happy I did. I learned a lot about deployment, and was given a real appreciation for weapon range bands, as well as the importance of good terrain set up. I think our board was a little too sparse, since in 2 locations, at each deployment zone we were able to set up snipers that could see about 70% of the board.

Really excited for my next game ! Loving this game more and more.

TR Remotes are rough, and extremely difficult to attack head-on. I wouldn't even try - in a game about stacking modifiers in your favour, taking AROs from B4 with easy access to Marksmanship lvl2 is foolish even if you have an HMG and higher BS. Much better to use hacking, or smoke, or grenade launchers to take them out.

The other really good way to take them out is with camouflage attacks, outside their ideal range. Especially if your opponent has not got Marksman L2 on them it becomes fairly doable: -3 for camo, -3 surprise shot, -3 cover, which any camo attack should impose, already makes them look shaky. If you have a TO camo model, OR can fire from/through low vis, OR can get close into -3 range band you have reached the magic -12 modifier and your opponent is relying on a weak dodge roll against your ninja assassin ultimate badass.

I always assume that my TR bot is going to die, but I hope that it costs my opponent ~3 orders to accomplish it. And, ideally, I can bring it back with one repair order and make him spend those 2-3 orders all over again next turn.

I'm not interested in the RPG but one of the stretch goals is sweet faction-themed HVTs/special agents and I don't trust CB not to gently caress up the non-limited versions.

ed: Aaaand they require a pledge for the core book to grab the minis, time to find someone local to latch on.

I was interested in the Haqq/Ariadna ones as HVTs, but without a mini-only pledge option, I'm not sure I want to drop cash on the books. I don't really have any play options, so it'd just be for fluff, and...eh? $30 for the PDF can suck my nuts.

I'm actually more interested in the later versions of the RPG minis, since CB has said that they'll be done with different limbs with an eye to being unarmed HVTs rather than armed RPG characters.

I'd wait, except that there's like 1 generic version of a limited model that's on the original's level and not noticeably worse.

Am working on a 250pt list for Antenna Field for next week, but I want to play test it tomorrow as well. I'm kind of uhm-ing and ah-ing on a Charontid. The Hacker+ would be swell for holding points in the mid table, but I really, really like the killing power of the HMG MSV3 Lt, just finding it tricky to get the weight of specialists in the list. Other options are realistically a Skiavoros which fills me out for more specialists.

I've got a Speculo in the list for that thin line she can deploy in, but it's tricky to balance all my wants at 250pts. Maybe just run the HMG and cram in a Umbra?

Isn't the "strategies for GMing a party of TAG pilots" just "watch a shitload of Gundam and copy it wholesale"?

Actually more fun would be a Patlabor style campaign about a second-string O-Yoroi team getting up to shenanigans while bored out in the sticks.

Haha, well yeah. But the crunch is the tricky bit. They have a hit location die - I'm wondering if they'll be going more of a Warhammer Fantasy/Shadowrun level of crunch. My storygamer self is hoping for something a little more freeform, but a fresh take on a crunchy game without years of baggage might be nice.

Backed the kickstarter and going to run the game when I get the chance. I should be fine with it as long as it isn't EP crunchy.

You mean older models that don't have the modern square connectors? Either pin or epoxy-glue the off-hand while dry-fitting the gun arm. Trying to do all 3 points at once is a proven recipe for getting glue everywhere you don't want.
