Geeze, this poo poo with an Irving, TX high school having a kid, who just happens to be Islamic, arrested because he brought a DIY digital clock to school, is making me embarrassed to be a Texan. At this point, I'm thinking I'd like somewhere with first-world health care, decent roads, and a good education system. Unfortunately, looks like that's not going to be the USA. One of my closest friends is about to go through a personal hell. His girlfriend works with mine and she let it slip that she's pretty much checked out of their relationship. She's just been putting on a happy facade and acting like business as usual because she wasn't sure what she wanted. My friend has a kid from a previous marriage and I guess the pressures of pretty much raising someone else's kid have gotten to her among other things. This sucks, they have their problems but he 100% loves her and was going to propose after they went through couples therapy. This is gonna be rough.

Irony: the highest average price of gas in the state right now, according to local talk radio anyway is in my hometown (El Paso TX). .... there's a large refinery there (right by to what used to be an amusement park, go figure). You'd think that prices would be lower because of the local refinery (and thus, lower cost of transport), but nope. Gas prices tend to be higher there than most other places in the state.
