Going back to the nurse jokes, where did the stereotype of cops dating nurse come from? Two groups of people that tend to be one sex that work odd hours while dealing with a given person worst day?

I'm friends with 4 cops/deputies, 3 of them are married to nurses, one was married to one, now married to a teacher

There is a camaraderie based on long hours, night shift, routinely getting days off cancelled or flexed, dealing with lovely people, blood, deaths, tragedies, and frequently helping each other out because as-goes-the-street usually goes in the inside of the ER. I'm at the ER on calls or call related visits a few times a week, and if I wasn't seeing someone it would be a target rich environment of generally like-minded young ladies.

the teachers tend to be less crazy unless they're the type to gently caress students. 3 months off in the summer must rule.

JayKay posted:Too bad that for the majority of teachers, that 3 months is unpaid. Not always the case. Depends on the school district, some will pay their teachers over the break or give the option to pro-rate their salary so that they get paid less during the year but keep receiving a check.

Or they just teach a summer school class to keep the checks coming in.

They'll pro-rate the pay over 12 months here, at the request of the teacher. Funny thing is if you teach summer school to try and supplement summer pay, they won't pay you until your first pay check back to regular school anyway.

The district I used to work in originally let you choose between the "paid only during the school year" or "Paid all 12 months". Now they don't even have the school year only option, everyone gets paid year round.

Cop gay. So What posted:Ah yes teacher pay, truly the fast food workers of public employment... That has got to be per classroom hour, not salary/(40 * 52) e: Yeah that's full of poo poo . If it isn't completely invented, it takes actual BLS numbers and applies some weird math to them. Either that or top pay is astronomical to skew the average that much higher than the median. Teachers here can make a decent salary now, which is awesome. They loving should because their job is lovely and id never do it no matter what you paid me. Teachers cops and nurses should all make $100k+/yr

Pay people a good salary but don't saddle taxpayers with 30-50 years of 1%er salaries.

If your looking for a specific building number than yeah, or CAD would show it. It doesn't do apartment numbers though. I've got two huge apartment complexes in my patrol area and I get flagged down all the time by people who are lost.
