For me Obliterators (the "current" ones, not the older thing goatface posted) do just what they're supposed to, model-wise, and even those possessed aren't that bad. No defense of the others though.

I never liked the organic chaosy look of the new oblits. I really wish they stuck with the style that goatface posted. Maybe FW will do them justice someday.

Fair enough, and I won't deny that it'd be awesome if FW did a visual variant based on retro models they way they've done with some other stuff.

They could have put heavy bolter ball turrets in there, manned by junior initiates as a rite of passage. Then they'd have more than 20 degrees of coverage

I have no strong feelings about the shortboat. I've liked the oblits all the way along. When they were janky old citadel models. When they were hellraisers that fell in a toolbox, and the new half-tyranid things. But the best oblits of all time were the ones this guy made: http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/172506-night-lords-18th-battle-company-flight-715/page-2 His thread is kind of perfect for this thread. It's full of 'what the gently caress, why are you wasting all this talent and money on GW' and also 'god that's awesome'.

There was a linked version for Bi-planes that used Thompsons and an anti-infantry version the Russians used in WWII that mounted 80 PPSH-41 SMG's inside the bay of a bomber. They also show up in places like Libya where guys are making stuff in garages, and when you don't have real heavy infantry support weapons, having four normal guns shooting at loosely the same place is an average substitute.

They never established how high those things go, so he might not need to see anything below. What immediately catches my eye is how the foward gunner is sitting on a thin piece of cardboard and a prayer, no way that's a well placed turret. I guess that's just GW bullshitry, doing a regular speeder with the regular gunner having an assault canon just wouldn't be enough. Also: we put a dude and plasma cannon in the back where the engine/anti gravity pad used to be, ugh, add four tiny plane engines to the sides! KingFisher posted:Would any of you hams want a chaos dwarf plastic dude? Just a single model to paint and enjoy the early 90's? Haha, chaos dwarves were like the one army I really wanted as a kid, but GW had already priced me out of their flagship games. I played a little blood bowl and necromunda, but as a 12 year old saving up Christmas and birthday money, that's all I could afford to play and a good chunk of that was bought second-hand from other regulars at the store I think. There was no way in hell my parents would've shelled out enough for a battle box or whatever to get started, and I didn't have the self-discipline to save up from year to year. Once everything went under the umbrella of 'specialist games' and wasn't really supported anymore, both of those games gradually died off at my local store and almost all of the regulars moved to 40k only, which I had no models for. I still think about trying to pick up a mess of chaos dwarves secondhand though I guess I'd be more likely to play them in KoW or something at this point. I guess my lovely anecdote would've been more appropriate in the death pool thread, but whatever.
