Thanks man! I just uploaded the August Oath Thread pictures, one of them was your Dakka ChoppaJet and it reminded of how fantastic your scratchbuilds are, I wish I had a small bit of your skills there!

I'm amazed there are folks that get every single codex, even for armies they don't play. I know what it's like to be a nerd completionist, but maybe this is a manifestation of me living in Britain (and its tiny houses) for so long now. Anywy, when I talked to Jervis at the last Warhammer World open day he must have been getting earfuls of people telling him the codex releases were coming so quick because without prompting he told me that they understood that it was getting harder for people to keep up with the game books. I do wonder what the mood will be like in the seminars at the next one in a couple of weeks.

Well, if you have that much money and don't mind spending it...do, uh, you want a commission painted army? :)

I get where you're coming from though, I think I still have all of my 2nd edition D&D books and 3rd edition GURPS books and sourcebooks, plus stuff for other games like Hackmaster, Traveller and other things. It's only been very recently that I've tried selling some of them off, and this is after moving them from Texas to California to the UK.

TWLM - that's Darkstar Miniatures metallics on it, it's a new UK line of paints, they only do metallics and they're quite nice. The gold is their Royal Gold, then Pale Gold for the goldy-silver highlights and finally I think it was Pewter which is a really bright silver.

Look like they have people stocking it in Canada too so many thanks!

Good! I think it's a really good line of paints, easily airbrushable with thinning and good from a brush as well. Everything metallic on the Knight is Darkstar, it's all I've been using lately - although I've never tried the Vallejo alcohol paints or very much of the GW metallics. They sell the ranges in 'triad' type packs as well so you can get a set of gold, a set of brass, etc.

They have full color artwork and higher page counts in addition to just being physically larger. My 6th ed Marine codex is 178 pages and the 5th ed one is like 140, and also falling apart because the paperback spine isn't as durable. Honestly my only problem with the hardback codices is that they replaced a bunch of them way too fast. I still haven't gotten the 7th ed Marines codex and they're my primary army.

I brought Fulgrim, Eidolon, 20 man assault marine squad, 10 man tactical in a rhino, 10 man palatine blades, sicaran Venator and a spartan. Fulgrim and palatine blades rode in the spartan. It worked OK but I think I'd drop Fulgrim for more AT if I had stuff painted.

My first game was against an all tank Iron Warriors list and a drop pod Ultramarines list. We had to control certain fortifications around the board it just blew. My partner played mechanicum. We couldn't blow up tanks because we had to concentrate on two drop Melta squads a plasma squad, gulliman and some suzeirain or whatever they are and two tacs. It wasn't fun.

My second game was against white scars with flyers and tacs in rhinos with some bikes and salamanders with fire drakes, vulkhan , and tac squads. It was a lot closer. My partner had iron Warriors with pertuabo and he kicked rear end. My army did what it was supposed to do - assault quickly and sweep people. We won but it was closer.

Overall it was fun but it's 40k so there were definitely some blowouts. I don't play nearly as much as I used to so it was probably enough to tide me over for a while
