I'm pleased about the win but only middlin' pleased. Yeah, we blanked the Bears but goddamn was that first half poo poo to watch. They've been doing that for awhile now. They got lucky in the NFCCG by starting low, and it bit them in the rear end in the Super Bowl, and now they dropped two and crapped out today in the first half by making GBS threads the bed offensively. The line is if anything worse than I imagined and couldn't even get Marshawn Lynch going. for gently caress sake. Jimmy Graham with seven catches for 83 and 1 TD for a close to 12 yard average is more like it. I'm not expecting like fifteen passes a game, so this effort was a lot more encouraging. Russ threw it to Jimmy a couple times when he was blanketed and he caught it so hopefully Russ will be more inclined to trust Jimmy when he's not seemingly open. The defense played ok once they remember oh yeah it's Jimmy Clausen just loving key in on Forte when he's in the game. Jesus it's not rocket science. Keep winning Hawks, and try to not be a tire fire for 50% of a game.

It truly makes me sad to see Andre Johnson looking like a mere husk of the husk of a player he already was last year. And not just because he's certain to turn it around when the Colts play the Texans later.

assuming the bills continue to not play down to opponents and don't lay any big stinkers, 6-1 or 5-2 going into the bye looks more and more possible. very glad they drew the bengals at home. that's gonna be a real good game

Mel Mudkiper posted:I like how he is now Steve Smith Sr on the assumption one day his son is also gonna play in the nfl Apparently his son is a soccer player which means we may have to go with out Steve Smith Jr. At least we'll have Gunner Rivers. - Steve Smith threw up, got an IV on the sidelines, thrashed 200 pound men like they were scurvy ridden preschoolers. -Flacco and Smith are struggling mightily to carry this team, but she's too drat heavy. - It would be cool if Dean Pees' defense stopped getting butt hosed by AJ Green but that doesn't seem likely. - Rashan Melvin played the worst quarter of football I think I've ever seen. Fell down of his own accord at least three times. Hopefully just injury because I thought he might some day be alright. - Refs are bad and they should feel bad. Lots of confusion, horrible ball spotting, some ticky tacky bullshit, Tyler Eifert clearly had a touchdown, and unless Kelechi Osemele decapitates the defender you're a dick for calling that penalty on the last drive. To be fair I was at the game and they showed no replay there so KO may have decapitated someone. - Couldn't help but think how great life would be if we never traded Boldin and he was playing opposite S.S.Sr. They would be so old and beautiful. - Clock management was Andy Reed bad at the end of the half. Both Harbaugh and Lewis were determined to poo poo away those two minutes. - Outside of Green and Atkins the Bengals aren't special. Ravens are just sort of sad. Third loss of less than a touchdown. In a row. Multiple chances to win squandered. 6 hour ride home after a loss like that makes for some very dark thoughts. Still, Roethlisberger hurt so all told it was a good day.

I would say the Bengals are pretty drat good. Marvin Jones and Sanu are also good to complement Green. They are easily one of the top teams in the AFC and have a chance to come out of it.

They are easily one of the top teams in the AFC and have a chance to come out of it. I have no idea how good Marvin Jones is because he was challenged by thin air for most of the game. The Bengals' running game didn't exist in the first game they went up against a decent D-line. Bengals knew we were throwing to Smith because of course we are, there is literally nothing else we are capable of doing ,and couldn't stop it like Denver did. Andy Dalton... played pretty well. Was impressed with the way he made things happen with his feet when needed. The most concerning thing about the Bengals was their attempts to kill the clock with the non existent running game at the start of the 2nd half. If they don't make this crazy decision there is no way the Ravens get back into the game. I think this is well proved by the fact that when they stopped running the ball in the the late 4th it resulted in two quick and easy touchdown drives, if you can call a play were AJ Green makes Kendrick Lewis predictably poo poo his pants for 80 yards a "drive".

The call on Osemele was legit as hell. Dude pretty much held a free rusher back by holding on to his facemask from the side. I listened to the first half in the car and the Bengals color guy said that Melvin had the worst quarter for a CB that he had ever seen. Which is saying a lot because he has been on the radio for a billion years and bad Bengals seasons.

Melvin came back way too early from injury and got exploited. He should've sat longer. Arrington was playing dime and was barely on the field but still made a few bad plays. Hopeful Melvin gets better fast because our secondary is starting to look pretty ugly.
