Exactly.

He said it's ok for them to have the weapons, just they shouldn't use them that way,

I say they shouldn't have the weapons.

Clinton also says they shouldn't have the weapons.

This is a clear policy difference. We all agree they shouldn't use the weapons the way they are using them. Just some of us also think that they shouldn't even have them in the first place as having them is the temptation to mis-use them.

Actually, Hillary's campaign website doesn't mention demilitarizing the police. On her Issues page for criminal justice reform, she merely supports body cameras and "protecting the public without resorting to unnecessary force". Bernie holds those positions, along with many more, and more explicit positions including demilitarizing the police, as listed on his Issues page for racial justice.

You have to read the article, Fried Chicken didn't get it quite right. It's a combined debt ceiling raise and pass a budget so McConnell could be putting those in his budget rather than tying them to the debt ceiling. That way he can say he got any budget concessions from the debt ceiling, while Obama can say he got them only as part of the budget.

No they can't, he still has a veto. He is in a weaker position to maneuver without having Reid pass a clean Senate bill but it's still a situation where both sides must agree to get anything done.

This isn't going to please From-One-Year-Ago Mitch McConnell

quote:

WASHINGTON -- Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said on Thursday that if he were to emerge as majority leader following this fall's elections, he'd prefer to keep in place the minority party's ability to filibuster legislation.

"I do not favor turning the Senate into a majoritarian institution, even though we would probably have some short-term advantage to doing it," McConnell said during an appearance at the American Enterprise Institute, a conservative think tank.

While he said he thought Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) had done a "lot of damage" by using parliamentary procedure to enable some judicial and executive nominees to move through the chamber with 50 votes, he suggested that he had no plans to try to undo that change. He even left the door open to further changing the rules so they would apply to more nominees.

"That precedent will always be there. It is hard to un-ring a bell and I think it was very damaging to the institution," said McConnell.
