Thanks much. That looks pretty easy. I don't have to unscrew anything, do I?

Is there gonna be a SmileBASIC thread? That's a day 1 purchase for me. I'll download it off my tethered phone internet at the hotel, dammit. I'm super pumped about making dumb games on my 3DS.

My friend is saying this game called Legend of Legacy is super cool? It has a demo on the eShop that I'm downloading right now. I'm getting Yoshi and Dragon Quest Heroes (PS4) on Friday so I'm wondering if I should pick up this other game I've never heard of before too. I do like RPGs.

Reviews/first impressions I've seen have been pretty mediocre... seems ok if you've already exhausted the library of RPGs on 3DS but if you haven't played them it seems like you'd be better off checking out Bravely Default or Rune Factory 4 or something edit: or Etrian Odyssey or Persona Q

I'd go with Etrian Odyssey over Persona Q, unless you are truly desperate for a game with goofy caricatures of your favorite Persona 3 or 4 characters. Etrian Odyssey is better at being a dungeon crawler.

But will it run Star Trek, Beneath Apple Manor and Castle Wolfenstein?

There was definitely a version of Star Trek on Petitcom 2, I haven't looked to see if it got ported to Smilebasic.

US dudes, NOA confirmed a Yokai Watch demo for next week (October 22).The Lobster posted:My friend is saying this game called Legend of Legacy is super cool? Legend of Legacy is a game you play for the battle system and the aesthetic; beyond that, there's not really much to do or experience.

Absolutely try out the demo first since it's a SaGa style game so it's either gonna really click for you or it won't and you will hate it.

I actually kinda enjoyed tapping out programs on the touchscreen on Petitcom 2, its leisurely. You can use a computer though, there's a modem app for transferring files through the headset jack.

Ironfall: Invasion is back on the eShop. I guess they patched up the exploit.

You can still use the YouTube app for homebrew, it hasn't been patched, and even if they do patch it, you don't need to update because the browser is better for YouTube anyway. What I'm saying is download the YouTube app if you haven't already

I never downloaded the youtube app before and now I have to download a system update before the store will let me. Does the region free thing work with the most recent update?

lets hang out posted:Does the region free thing work with the most recent update? Yes. And if you have bought a 3DS theme at some point you can now even force the console to launch straight into the homebrew launcher that does the region-free/emulation stuff as you turn the system on instead of having to go every time through the Youtube app.

You don't even have had to have bought a theme it just works. Dybarec support coming also soon to new 3ds firmwares after 9.2, which means better emulators and backup support. Which is something I want so bad as I hate having to swap out the cartridge just to play Animal Crossing for a few mins.

The new whateverhax that smea is working on will let us crank the cpu speed up on new 3ds's to the full new 3ds speed for og 3ds games and homebrew, so here comes a lot more horsepower for Pokemon in 3D mode and snes/gba games

I didn't like the Legend of Legacy demo much but there's a SEGA SRPG coming next month. Any more details on it?

I just picked up an old 3ds with kingdom hearts for $35. Sold the game for 25 and will use that system for "homebrew" if I ever figure out how which isn't likely tbh

It's easy as gently caress. It basically just involves dropping some files to the root of your SD card and changing one simple system setting, then launching the YouTube app.

PaletteSwappedNinja posted:Nintendo Japan's been sending emails to random people that contain three codes for a limited-time demo of Triforce Heroes; similar to the Splatoon Testfire demo, it'll only be online at certain times over the next couple weeks, and you get a 500yen discount on the digital version of the final game if you've downloaded the demo. I just got an email for the US version. 10/6, 10/7 5PM -10PM PT 10/8 7AM - 12PM PT. They give two additional codes as well.

At least from the lobby I can tell it's just the Link Between Worlds engine. This seems like a big mistake requiring three people. It's hard enough finding two.
