I think the GOP establishment would rather go to top 6 candidates than have a top 5 debate with Cruz over Bush. Trump, Carson, Rubio, Fiorina, Bush, and Cruz probably isn't absolute poison to the GOP.

BI NOW GAY LATER posted:kk, I am having the same dumb debate about how morality and policy can be exclusive. I dug it up My father is a civil engineer. I pass a $2 trillion infrastructure bill with the goal of handing this contracts to my family and friends. It will also result in a massive redistribution to the working class, a sharp drop in unemployment, and put the country in an overwhelming position for future growth and economic dominance due to our now best in the world infrastructure. I want one party rule of the bureaucracy, since that is where a lot of the real power lies. So I pass a bill doing a complete top down reformation of how the government works, yanking back privatized functions, updating all our systems with a future focused technology policy and an org and reward system focused on fast user satisfaction and transparency; that way I can fire all the party X appointees as "redundant", push their past screwups to justify more firings as "transparency", and make the voters so happy and an easy to access and responsive government they don't let the bastards back in for a decade, kneecapping the oppositions ability to groom and promote new prospects. Evangelical support is critical to my opponents coalition, and they are mainly motivated by abortion opposition. So I pass a bill for free contraception, free family planning counseling, free prenatal care, comprehensive sex-Ed, a Nordic style "new parent support" giveaway, universals daycare/pre-K, and overhaul the adoption system making it easier for LBGT couples to adopt. Abortion falls to a quarter of its earlier numbers, he can't get out the vote, I cruise to reelection Don't tell me good policy is grounded in good morals. I could run this country like I'm Doctor Doom and enact policy that would have you all building statues to me. Edit: and that's what your link went to. Deep

this_is_hard posted:In some fields, government jobs not only pay better but offer way better benefits and hours. You're less likely to get a 6 figure government job, but more likely to get a $15-25 an hour one with benefits that FAR outstrip what you'll get in the private sector. Government jobs are sought after because of the high floor more than anything else. From what I understand, unless you know Assembly or dirt on someone in power, the 6 figure jobs are pretty much nonexistent the $15-25 an hour jobs all require a college degree, require trolling USAJOBS.gov for months (itself a form of hell), and generally pay a fair wage for extremely competitive jobs. and to top it off, unless you're ex-military you have a slim-to-none chance at even getting an interview nowadays. it is wholesale myth that public sector workers in the DC are overpaid w/r/t private sector jobs. there's just as many fields where the government "overpays" as there are where the government "underpays," IT/comp sci, and security/defense related to name a few. [/quote] I don't have a degree and my government job pays over $20/hour. I filled out the application on the county website, got called for testing, got called for the interview, and got hired.

Good profile of the guy who infiltrated Planned Parenthood and the other companies they collaborate with for organ donation and research. It is from Washington Post but it's a good story. Explains why he is going to be so hosed by lawsuits for violating non disclosure agreements but that will just feed into the persecution complex of the people against PP. Its either completely sanctioned and legal or the entire government is covering up and complicit in murder. I think you can guess what side most of them will choose.

Campaign finance numbers. How much do some of the actual campaigns (not the PACs) have on hand to pay staffers and do things? Cruz - 13.5 m Carson - 11.5 m Rubio - 11 m Bush - 10.3 m Christie - 1.4 m And the bastard (Bush) only raised 13.4m in Q3 Fun thing is Walker closed with nearly 1 m on hand, so he could have held in a little over another month before running dry
