It's all very well to laugh at Dutton's leadership aspirations but I did the same about Abbott in the Howard years and boy didn't I look stupid when we elected him PM.

Howard was in for a really long time and packed the parliamentary party with his loyalists who were mostly incapable of thinking on their own. This paucity of talent is why potatoes like Dutton got mentioned as leadership material. New talent is slowly making its way in - I'd use Christian Porter, the former WA Treasurer/AG as an example. Once Turnbull wins an election he will have a freer hand to drop all the dead wood. The old Howard hands must know that time is not on their side, the numbers will only get worse as more people get Mirabella'd.

Although Deputy PM would be the LNP's way of saying gently caress You to the Nationals.

They tried to implement it, but it got revoked when the cross bench lost power. Personally I think that they should include gambling revenue in the gst distribution, and make it least 1:1 so that every dollar a government makes in gambling they lose a dollar or more in GST. (Currently it's not included at all unlike mining revenue for those unaware)

The RCG is the most pointless and toothless of initiatives, basically even if you see someone has a gambling issue you cant do anything about it, its all about 'harm minimisation' aka having leaflets and signs on display. You may as well do nothing for all the good it does

ScreamingLlama posted:RCG. Responsible Conduct of Gambling (though I did mine a few years ago now, it could have changed since then) You got it dude. The key difference between the RSA and the RCG is that in the RSA course you are told all about how you have a responsibility to refuse service, whereas with the RCG you are told how much not to interfere except in a very limited way.
