Jeb! just reiterated that he got to answer a question on Fantasy Football (where Christie crushed him) while complaining he didn't get to answer the questions that matter. He just countered the RNC's position on the CNBC debate and answered that there were, "Gotcha questions in the other debates as well"

Good god that debate. Trump was the only one who didn't propose some form of "burn the country down on our way out" SS/Medicare reform plan, the moderators had absolutely no control over what was going on to the point of fighting with each other when it was time to ask the next question, and I would have expected better and more polished commentary out of a podcast. And then they all agreed that the Democratic debate was silly. I don't normally drink on weeknights, but [whiskey-chugging Uncle Sam.png]

Rubio will probably come out looking the best based on early-debate performance, so expect some more rallying around him by the establishment wing.

I'm a political junkie that spends hours every day reading about this poo poo and I could not stomach more than half an hour of the fantasy-land fairy-tale horseshit being flung around that stage. I had to turn it off because I felt physically ill. That's not hyperbole, I genuinely felt sick to my stomach at what I was seeing. That anyone takes any of these snake-oil selling hucksters seriously is an unbelievable indictment of the Republican party. None of these lying mediocrities is fit to run a local animal control department, much less the entire United States of America. DnD is extremely liberal and we like to make fun of the Republican clown show, but Jesus loving Christ it's really really important if we're going to have a two party system to have two parties that are at least loosely based in three-dimensional physical reality and one of them is decidedly not so at the moment. The dangers of politics-as-religion, where everything is based on beliefs regardless of facts and evidence was on full display tonight for two hours and anyone who could sit and watch it has better anger management skills and a much stronger stomach for deliberate dishonesty than I do. gently caress these people for what they've done to our politics.

icantfindaname posted:so sum up the GOP debate for me. who did well, who did poorly, etc. did The Donald come out OK? what about Carson? did JEB! implode? The debate, hosted by CNBC, was supposed to be a debate about economic matters primarily. The GOP economic policies, at this stage, are largely campaign speech style platitudes and have no substance. The GOP quickly took the tack that the CNBC questions were poor, not substantive, and weakly moderated (the last is definitely true), which completely obscures the necessity to talk to the policies (which don't exist). Rubio won some big quips, lost a couple but came out well. Trump is Trump and does what Trump does Fiorina straight up lies on the stage, but looks good doing it Kasich separated himself from the pack, but he's not taken seriously, like Paul Carson, like Trump, is untouchable no matter what he says

icantfindaname posted:so sum up the GOP debate for me. who did well, who did poorly, etc. did The Donald come out OK? what about Carson? did JEB! implode? I only caught parts, but my highlights were: - Carson is probably a lovely tipper at restaurants because he can't figure out how 10% works, but to be fair, he's a neurosurgeon not a rocket surgeon - all taxation is theft, especially social security, doubly so when the government is trying to keep it solvent, and if you try to withdraw on it, you're stealing from the social security, i don't know it got complicated - iCarly posited that having banks is actually socialism? - Rand Paul is running on his dad's campaign of kill your parents - Jeb! wants to give you a warm kiss - Christie stole Cruz' gimmick of staring into the camera like a loving moron - Huckabee wants to live long enough to see the rapture - Kaisch is from Ohio, he just wants to let you know about that - Rubio hates his job - Cruz decided to ramble on about how unfair everything was and not answer the question and then burn literally 2 minutes of time going "do you want me to answer the question? do you? do you want me to answer it? like i'll totally answer the question if you want me to, so like do you want me to answer the question?" - Carly was actually a good CEO and is still taking credit for all of the poo poo that HP has done since they gave her the boot - CNBC is now a part of the liberal media - Jeb! wants you to know that Fantasy Football isn't gambling and that he's 7-0
