You know as well as I do that they said the same thing in the 1870s, complaining about asiatic huns and dirty irishmen. Howling about those "mudmen" serving as the backbone of the union army and "defiling the flower of the south" was a staple of Daughters of Confederate Veterans newsletters. Then the social construct shifted and lo and behold we were anointed as good upstanding white people. Happened with italians too. "White" is a social construct of in group vs out group and so it shifts with who is in the ingroup.

Yeah and how do you think that shifted?

I'll give you a hint: it wasn't a bunch of people in a smokey room adding Germans and Irish to the "officially Whitey" list.

Which of course, is ignoring the hilarious assumption that those sentiments died out in the 1870s. Germans were persecuted at least through WW1, Jews were a suspect minority until we found literal Death Camps, and Catholics in general (compare with Muslims) were dogwhistled as late as Kennedy.

The "shift" takes a whole lot longer than what you're trying to present. And that's assuming Republicans attempt minority outreach, which as a party strategy died about 10 years ago.

I was kinda wondering that, too. Maybe it's a hail mary attempt to get people to scrutinize Rubio, the only candidate with his own section? This way they can deliver their bullet-point attacks without Jeb! being able to flub the delivery.

but I also haven't seen the rest of the leak so it's probably just a normal disaster for his campaign, not a planned one.

I'm watching the cloture vote in the Senate right now on CSPAN-2. Rand Paul wandered across the floor, and one of the Honorable Gentlemen clearly said, "So you're the reason we're all here at this hour? drat." into an open mic.

It was the vote for cloture, not the final vote. Hopefully it will sail through, unless Rand Paul decides to carry on again.

So any more barriers to this budget being passed, or will it continue to sail onward to Obama for his signature? I still haven't gotten a great sense of how people feel about it, beyond the general sentiment that an actual budget was overdue and pushing the debt limit back out of the election period was wise.
