In today's "not entirely awful kickstarters' news, there's this: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1708005089/pico-craft-beer-at-home

I'm sure there are better and cheaper ways to do it, but still looks pretty cool, and has an actual engineer and a food scientist involved.

Indiegogo is apparently processing refunds now:

indiegogo posted:

New feature update: We’re saving you time by processing refunds.

With Indiegogo now quickly processing refunds, backers who change their minds after contributing will be much happier, and provided funds haven’t been disbursed, you won’t have to worry about managing refund requests.

Backers asked for a simple way to receive refunds, and since early September, we’ve been following this refund policy. Now, backers can request a refund for eligible contributions directly within the Indiegogo product, without having to contact the campaigner or Indiegogo's customer happiness team.

Since September 1st, we’ve only received refund requests for a very small percentage of contributions. We will continue to notify you immediately by email if we process a refund for any contribution to your campaign.

For additional information, see our Refunds FAQ. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us, and we'll reply within 24 hours.

Best,
The Indiegogo Team

I might just be me, but "provided funds haven’t been disbursed" sounds really vague and open to abuse.

Are they unintentionally funny at least? I might give them a watch if they're so-bad-its-good for a laugh since they're on netflix, but if it's four hours of poorly made :words: about going Galt unironically, I'll skip them.

Was wondering this myself. Well, not caring but largely missing the "Awful Kickstarter" part of it. Seems more like a patreon job for the guy, but I guess if the model is working well for him why switch over?

In other news, the horrible jerk that started this thread has a terrible OP and its 350+ pages in. If anyone wants to give a hand make a good digest of the story so far - or better yet - draft their version of the OP and send it via PM, it would be appreciated, appended and you might even get your name with thanks, in bold.

It's not fanservice if they're just nude. Just constantly nude, all the time, in ways that should destroy the body. It has ceased to be fanservice. This comic is softcore pornography.

He opens the video with man rear end, and a shot of his mostly naked body so I'm pretty sure it's far from serious as it gets.

So basically, the problem is "b-b-boobies!!" rather than it actually being awful in ways most awful KSes are awful.

yes. the problem is dumb fake elf tits occluding something that could of been readable, if it weren't for all the elf porn.

edit- oh, no, it's not the fake tits that makes this bad, its the art and writing.

It's not great but it's not terrible. It's simply mediocre industry-grade T&A. The writing is on-par with or slightly above the (abysmal) standard of the comics industry.

There's a lot worse that used to be posted on Escher Girls (back before it turned into a soapbox about superhero costuming).

Just like your posting.
As far as Kickstarters go I'd say this is one of the if not good at least better ones. The art is alright and the guy has been doing this for a while so it's virtually guaranteed to deliver and that puts it squarely in the "whatever floats your boat" category. I have to admit though I'm not a scholar of fine comic book art and writing.

the cover art, which is what features in the kickstarter, is not drawn by the artist who draws the comic.

Yeah I wasn't just talking about the cover art. I think you're just really trying too hard to take a shot at this guy with a fairly innocuous kickstarter after a string of successful kickstarters, because his comic has boobs in it. There's nothing honestly overtly bad that I've seen thus far, besides just the fact that it's a comic book and most comic books are basically pulp speculative fiction with sequential art.

It's not some loser trying to bilk the public out of whatever they can scrounge for their literal first RPG Maker MV project, or some fat gently caress who wants to start a gaming entertainment company but has no idea what he's doing or that his model is loving terrible. It's just a dude who has tits in a piece of entertainment, and not even particularly egregious tits, just a slightly higher than average quantity of tits.

So now that Kickstarter has their "working prototype" policy, I guess we'll have to go to Indiegogo to see wannabe inventors sell their questionable ideas.

Like these guys, who think they can cram a complete CPAP machine into a tiny thing that sits under your nose:

https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/airing-the-first-hoseless-maskless-micro-cpap#/

And if that wasn't implausible enough, they're planning to sell them for $3 each as one-time-use devices (like a vibrating cock ring).

Why is the paperback more expensive than the hardcover. Also why is someone writing a book about something that happened in a video game. Lowtax should get in on this poo poo if there are nerds who are depressingly worthless enough that they would read this.

hi how are you

I like the $10,000 tier that gets them to write a chapter about your scummy character in their book. That's really the hallmark of artists with an interesting story to tell right there.

"Harddick Sexhaver logged in to Eve to see how many Isk he got for selling a month's subscription to some rube. Excellent, he thought as he clicked a few buttons that made the numbers he wanted to increase go up. "Soon my numbers will be high enough to pilot the ship I can now afford by selling money ingame for fake game money," he thought. With a smirk he logged out and did something else for a month. He missed the Fountain War but when he logged back in he could fly a pretty sweet ship. Harddick Sexhaver is truly a hero of Eve online and a worthy subject of this important book."
