The floor loads the 'far away' texture, but if i drive too fast over to it teh floor goes invisible, some pedestrians fall through screaming, and then (eventually in some cases) the higher rez texture pops in. CPU usage is fairly high while playign but i'm thinkign its teh lack of vram / crossfire thats killign it for me.

the dual band wifi dingus that a generous goon sent me arrived today and it's working perfectly, i've got a solid 150mbit connection and no packet loss doing this helps, of course (i'm going to fix the cable and level the painting later): the print is something my dad bought in the 70's, "la machine funambule" by renee lubarow, translates to "the tightrope-walking machine", which i have hanging over my pc for what should be obvious reasons

so now the real trick is to test throughput from that machine to a wired machine elsewhere using something like iperf to check real data speeds

CrazyLittle posted:so now the real trick is to test throughput from that machine to a wired machine elsewhere using something like iperf to check real data speeds we don't have any wired machines in the apartment so whatever we get is fine, as long as it works. the problem with the previous one wasn't so much speed as it was incredible packet loss, making the connection unusable for file copying or video streaming and merely highly frustrating for web browsing i'll probably run a benchmark later using my wife's macbook air (which is on 802.11ac and can be moved next to the router) but right now i'm just happy it's usable
