http://www.snopes.com/fiercefemtivist-nurse-racist-parents/ "The child appeared merely as a footnote to the narrative of neatly-packaged racism, replete with a Confederate-flag wearing, stock redneck character." Since the bulk of STDH stories seem to be about appealing to conservative social values one way or another, it was kind of refreshing to see one so obviously designed to push liberal buttons.

Crowning Moment of Awesome Sudden Urges quote:A little while ago, I was walking over to my friend's house, and I was about 15 minutes away, when I was seized by a sudden urge. I zipped up my hoody, and put my hood up. I hid my ring finger on my left hand, and placed them left over right in front of me, and slowed my pace. See where this going? For a bit I was ok, but then I saw a few teens in front of me, and I thought "Aw hell, they're going to give me crap for this." Nope. They actually moved out of my way and let me pass. Moments later, they suddenly came up, and positioned themselves on either side of me, and in front and behind me. For about five minutes they hid me, until I was at a darkened street, where I broke from them, turned and nodded a thanks to them, and sprinted off.

Now no doubt I will be embarrassed in mere seconds when people post tonnes of links proving it's staged but still it shouldn't be unimaginable to you that people get sexually harassed even if they are men. I presume (with no stats backing me) that it is far more common to be men harassing women, but the opposite is sadly plausible too. That's not the only thing going on that's weird though. If he was working there and they were twerking on him () or something then that'd be one thing, but he's just talking on the phone ignoring them. If he was bothered he could just walk away or something. And again, there's the weird angle where he's just holding a huge wad of cash, talking away on the phone, in a store. Not buying anything, not leaving, just kinda hanging around so that he can be recorded having these girls twerk on him. Wouldn't you at least put the money in your pocket or something? I'm never just standing around holding money while talking on the phone. Its not just "omg its a man so obviously its not harassment" I'm saying "this scene is so loving weird and nothing adds up" You're missing the point entirely. If the roles were reversed and a woman was standing in a store holding a huge wad of cash while some men rubbed their butts up against her, but she didn't say anything she just stood there talking on the phone, I wouldn't freak out and go "omg that's harassment for sure!", I'd think it was staged too. Something just doesn't add up. Zaphod42 has a new favorite as of 16:52 on Nov 11, 2015 |

I would defer to a lawyer, but I think treating the kid would legally have fewer repercussions than not treating the child, since the parents could just say that they didn't say anything and the doctor refused care. If the parents were threatening to hurt anyone who tried to administrate care, hospitals have security teams for that. Or, they could call the police, take the kid away and administrate care. If this person didn't do literally everything she could to save a child's life, she's a legitimately bad medical professional who cares about her own safety over the survival of her patient. So additionally (I just looked it up), the mother would have final say in the administration of care unless the father was given sole custody of the child. It's kind of the worst to make poo poo up like this because there are legitimately hosed-up things that happen every day in the name of racism and making these things up so that people can say "that's not true therefore all racism is a lie." It's the same kind of deep disappointment that comes with false rape claims. It's so frustrating. As soon as people started questioning the account, she deleted her twitter.

Well, all the hospitals I've worked at always have a nursing supervisor (charge nurse, care facilitator, whatever) on the floor. And you can definitely call someone the n word in America and have nothing happen to you. But whether those two true facts are enough to salvage that story is maybe dubious.

Same here, but the supervisors on the floor are almost always senior nurses with more experience. The idea they would supervise procedure they don't know is laughable.

The idea that you'd have one and only one nurse who knows how to do a life-saving procedure is a bit nuts. Although, in fairness, I've seen both flavours of charge nurse at various hospitals: senior nurses who can do basically anything and do a lot of clinical work on shift, and nurses who are basically retired and only do managerial stuff, maybe work one triage shift a month.

I have it! [internal tears of joy]

Crowning moment of bizarrequote:My history/civics teacher is a little... overprotective of the girls in his class (to the point of almost seeming perverted). He's an awesome guy, and jokes around a lot. One of the girls in class was dating a guy who was a troublemaker in his other class. They were chatting about this (meaning I had to do almost nothing that hour) when the kid comes in. The teacher grabs the guy by the neck and says "If you ever do anything to hurt her or do anything against her will, I swear I will make you wish for death." Granted, the teacher made jokes like that occasionally, but this was the first time he actually sounded serious.

Or rather, former teacher if he actually did that instead of just glaring at the guy silently from his desk fantasizing about saying all this like we know he did. I'd also put another $5 on it being an english teacher in an East Asian country that is probably Japan because those guys seem to tend toward the weird/creepy side enough to write a story like that.
