The Gajeel thing is so weird since he seems to have actively sought penance both with the guild and with her, and cares about her in the post-crucifixion era, but they never really explicit show her forgiving him do they?

I mean technically for all the fluff and nonsense in Fairy Tail they are an organization of quasi-legal magi mercenaries who are constantly vying for violent dominance within their cultural niche of insane psychopaths. They live horrific, violent lives of torture and humiliation. Anyone in Fairy Tail is explicitly stated to be on the edge of the law, barely accepted at points in the manga, and just one step above a seething pool of dark guilds that all appear to be completely bonkers. They're all suicidal cults dedicated to a walking incarnation of divine punishment handed out in such a way that he causes massive suffering for an eternity if he so much as gives a gently caress. And he's on the other side of a conflict with a flying death god who seeks to become a mass extinction event or something? Is this why i never think about this manga?

I don't think Juvia and Gray is ending with anything other than them getting married in the undoubtedly naruto epilogue tier epilogue.

Did anyone notice the foreshadowing between Gray/Juvia before the war started? Gray mentioned he would reveal his feelings after this was over which makes me think one of them might die. Mashima might actually kill someone if this is really the last arc.... but who am I kidding?

Or kill Juvia.

I kinda imagine Mashima will kill exactly no one of real note. Maybe poor Makarov finally or maybe Gildartz. Someone old from the "previous generation" or something.

I'm thinking the one guaranteed death is Mavis. They'll use her whateverthefuck it is to win or buy time at the end and it'll finally end her life.

Just wait for the epilogue scenes where she equips her wedding dress (probably to marry Natsu, since Mashima will forget about whatsher name) and then later equips her housewife apron

Didn't Jellal have a squad of dudes or something for some reason? They're going to come back too, aren't they?

She doesn't actually have many other named character options since Natsu would never leave Happy for her.

I love this summary, never thought about Fairy Tail manga this way. I guess this is a reason why they care about their friends and the guild so much, this is all they have left and it might be the only thing keeping them sane.

And if anyone cares, a few days ago they announced a FT Zero anime starting January.

I heard about the FT Zero anime yesterday. I wonder how long it will be since it's only 13 chapters or so. I guess one episode per chapter might work but that seems like it would be stretching it.

There is the possibility that the storyline could just be a buffer arc to let Mashima get further in the main story. The staff did announce that there was gonna be a filler arc between the magic games and Tartaros, and when they were gonna start Tartaros. But at the same time, I think the regular anime could end within the current cour with a little squeezing, and they could just take 6 months-a year off like they did before, and this will be a one-cour deal to keep up the interest.

Yea, if you thought that last chapter was bad, Mashima used this one to basically go full on porn at a couple of points. That said, there's enough hilarity sprinkled throughout that I can look the other way. This for instance is probably the funniest thing I've seen all week and the entire chapter is worth it for this alone.

Gajeel's "what the gently caress have I gotten myself in to" is great too, as is Erza throwing the bottle when the guys try to leave. As much stick as we rightly give Mashima, he has a pretty good handle on comedy and there is some great use of simple expressions in the chapter. Anyways, interesting to see that Erza is a mean drunk I suppose. Also that she fantasizes about Gajeel.

In Chapter 463, surprisingly little happens for a Fairy Tail chapter.

Natsu's plan is actually a perfectly reasonable one, as Mavis acknowledges, but it's doomed to fail due to shonen battle manga plot structure.

I remember the last series that broke this rule left me feeling confused and empty, so it's for the best.

Since this can't be the final showdown, hopefully Natsu finally becomes END or something. I'm curious to see how much END looks like the getup Natsu wore as a pretend-bad guy back in the Edolas arc.

The next chapter, provided it isn't all a gigantic flashback is going to be Zeref standing there either unharmed or mostly unharmed or maybe hosed up but not dead, then Natsu will job out horribly.

Zeref is already visibly scratched up, so he's not going to be unharmed. My guess is that Natsu will run out of Igneel's energy at the last moment, and Zeref will be badly injured, but not dead.

But Natsu is END already. Zeref calls the Etherious demons "Etherious" because he brought them to life using the Ethernano poo poo - Natsu is just his dead brother brought to life the same way, so he called him Etherious Natsu Dragneel.

I think it's more "Natsu is basically a lich, and the END book is his phylactery"

And that's why he keeps surviving things that really should kill him, like that bit where he ate the Etherion.

As for the latest chapter, I really hope the result isn't going to be a cop out like

one of Zeref's minions taking the blast for him. Zeref only surviving because of a fluke like that would just cheapen him as a threat.

Here's hoping Zeref is just in his Useless Sad Mode, otherwise we've been building up to a whole lot of nothing since the name Zeref was first dropped near the beginning of the story. I'll be disappointed if it was building up to a final battle vs Acnologia instead, a character that wasn't even mentioned by name until a few arcs ago and only mentioned once before that.

didn't he gently caress up Gildartz early on, then gently caress up tenrou island? That's not exactly late in the manga. In fact, tenrou is from c203 apparently? So Acnologia has been in the manga for the majority of time and made a big unscreen splash about halfway through.

Anyway knowing this mush Zeref probably gets hosed up here and then his dudes step in, he retreats, and then another time-skip. Also tits. Time-skip to fit in more boobs.
