God, intimidation (and the other variants) is such a sub-optimal investment. Even with 13 effective charisma it rarely works, even on the lower-level enemies that qualify for it. In order to make use of the incitement you have to get in close, exposing yourself to enemy fire. But the real kick in the teeth is that you don't get any experience for the enemies that your subverted foes kill.

I think it comes from getting addicted to them in FO2 and never being able to find more mentats or buffout to sate my addiction.

Really addiction's not that bad, there are at least three items that remove all addictions and then doctors can do it for cheap. My problem with it is I'm usually rolling with someone who dislikes drugs, though that's becoming less of an issue as I steadily max 'em out.

Strength isn't that important. What you really need is blitz. I think I started with: 4 Str for blacksmith 4 (+Concorde bobble head) Per for explosives 1 end 1 int 9 agi for blitz 5 luck for idiot savant Then dumped the rest into charisma to work up to local leader, although I think if I did it again I'd just leave charisma for more luck. The only issue is most of the good grenades need science to craft. It works super well. The serrated switchblade shreds early level ghouls and raiders, and once I found a sledgehammer I just started silently teleporting and crushing heads everywhere. And when I get stuck in the open just take a bunch of psycho and jet and go nuts. At one point I think some combination of drugs and food glitched out and my super sledge was reporting nearly 1000 damage in the inventory screen.

Seeing everyone posting about how cool melee/unarmed is with drugs, it's making me want to start over with one of those builds. I'm like all CHA INT right now and it's fun to shoot mans but i think teleporting ninja sounds a lot more fun.

I wonder what the magnitude of that mod is. I would find it hard to believe that "shoots an additional projectile" isn't the best in most situations. As far as I can tell it just doubles the damage, there's no additional recoil or muzzle climb.

I got a Fatman, I gave it a MIRV mod, and it also shoots another projectile. Unfortunately the dropoff for the ammo is very very short, and what ends up happening is instead of 2 nukes being shot out, about 8? or so get shot out and about 100 feet away it drops to the ground. You can barely shoot it without blowing yourself up.

Rolled a punchmans character named Joan Cena. Went into the Kendall hospital at level 4 and punched the skull deathclaw down there to death after taking all of the drugs I had and doing a lot of panic'd running around waiting for vats to refill to do more blitzing. Blitz is the coolest.

I haven't really felt a need for the drugs since the early game. Apparently a few random pieces of combat armor strapped over a jumpsuit makes you weirdly bulletproof. I started just keeping a few of everything on me and stuffing the rest in storage - I don't even know how much I have now. Enough for Mama Murphy to have one hell of a party.CommissarMega posted:I had an AR that had the double shot bonus, and tore Swan down in a rain of lead Like everything else, Swan didn't live long against a bleed-damage shotgun. I was on my way to Trinity Tower and I just kind of made a brief detour to kill him because I'd heard everyone talking about this thing for so long.

Hm. Something seems to be interfering with the intimidation perk - I used it in power armor before, but since I put on an Atom Cats set with a targeting helmet, even a successful intimidation just makes the enemy hesitate for a moment before opening fire again. I suspect it's the targeting mod, but I haven't had a chance to take it off and test yet. edit: Yeah, looks like it's the targeting mod. I removed it, and intimidation is working properly again. But I also don't want to abandon the Minutemen... You don't have to. There's a "Minutemen" ending, but it's basically just the Yes Man route/default ending for people who gently caress all the other stories up or fail to initiate them. I'm pretty sure the Institute, Railroad, and Brotherhood of Steel endings never force you to attack the Minutemen or cause them to go hostile, just eliminate each of the other two.
