HUNDU THE BEAST GOD posted:Robin is two years younger than the character of Batman. Captain America is twenty years older than the Avengers, and the difference is so huge that the reappearance of the character in the Avengers is like metafiction. Comics are very much metafiction. That's what makes them fun. At this point there have been more stories about Captain America being with the Avengers than there have been stories about him in his WWII days. If you think of Captain America and envision him being unconnected to the Avengers at all, well, I don't know what character you're thinking of but it's not the one who's been appearing in print and screen. Other than this, I suppose.

Said it in the BSS thread already, but the BSS thread is terrible, so I'm gonna reiterate it here: I really like it! It's an attention-getter, that's for sure. Wish they could let Cavill do things in the trailers other than make sad or mad faces. Affleck looks really impressive as well.

I like how the biggest plot twist regarding that new scene would be if actually occurs in the movie. From the very start it seemed beyond obvious that that was all dream sequence stuff or whatever, but I think the trailers have been full of misdirection in general.

I really hope it's not a dream sequence because the idea of Batman dressing up in custom situational outfits for different types of missions he goes on is quite vitalizing to me. We're, like, three or four degrees from Batman in a spacesuit.

Nerds want art, because they are human. But they are nerds, so they don't understand it. Luckily most nerds have about thirty years to come to their senses before the embrace of death, and popculture almost always comes around on stuff. I predict a sudden wave of people who get Man of Steel in a few years and it's gonna be sweet.

I mean I know how dumb it is to say 'people will love this in ten years and I'm just ahead of the curb I KNOW IT' but I genuinely think it's one of those movies people will remember more fondly once we turn a corner in popculture. You've all probably noticed that a good deal of criticism of vs superman and so on has been coming from folks who see a divide between marvel and dc and are directly comparing them. Since Marvel is the big dominant movie franchise, being different from it looks like a failure to be a good franchise right now - hence all the weird articles that are totally obsessed with how DC is 'doing a cinematic universe wrong' and other complaints that seem totally unrelated to the fact they aren't even out yet. The instant people lose interest in marvel, the current yardstick for how you're supposed to make big movies, perspectives on a ton of other films will shift along with it.

I really don't expect a big change on Superman. It was relatively well regarded outside of a specific kind of comic fan or comic would-be fan. The biggest change I could see is BvS recontextualizing stuff that people disliked. It's already proven to be a film at least partially about the fact that Superman failed to save every life and how BvS deals with that will make people change how they look on MoS.

I assume it's a nightmare sequence from Batman's point of view where he views himself like a Christ-like figure trying to end Superman's evil rule, so he's being hung up and persecuted with two lowly criminals. It's like poetry, it rhymes with the first movie. In MOS, Superman was Christ without realizing it. In BvsS, Batman believes he is Christ. I'm sure this will all will also tie into the current conservative movement in US politics. HUNDU THE BEAST GOD posted:Two thieves. Damnit!
