Seems the germans have capitulated though. Those Shadows of Corsairs guys or whatever they're called gave up so fast when only I and two or three other goons sprayed them with the usual stuff on Droz. After the other guys left the ERPers even started spamming their own disco balls and balloon guns and poo poo and gave up roleplaying completely.

I didn't even get props for my awesome Dr. Zoidberg outfit. :(

I was reading though the patch notes (due to extended downtime) and was pleased to see that there has been an option to delete multiple emails in the ui. Not often that I actually like :cryptic: features, but if that works, good on them. I might be able to read my mail again and get the loving light to stop flashing.

They always had it. The change is, they now have 2x Quantum Torpedoes and Torpedo: Spread III instead of 1x Photon Torpedo, 1x Photon Cannon and Torpedo: High Yield II. Also they seem to be firing 8-9 torpedoes per salvo at a single target.

I haven't parsed it but in theory it's a massive improvement. Because of the fact hangar pets have lovely energy balance (basically they have 50/50/50/50 like all NPCs), their energy weapons do crappy damage while torpedoes do their normal damage. Swapping a turret for a torpedo means that's one less energy weapon draining power too, so the cannons will be doing a little bit more as well. And Torp Spread is probably more useful in the current game than HYT; the damage isn't that much lower, but it's an AoE.

Of course they didn't seem to fix the AI issue of them (and several other frigates) never going into full impulse when you leave combat, but that's Cryptic for you. :ughh:

I'm away from a game client for a bit. I'm flying the zstore morrigu, any specific reason to get fleet version? Also, what is fc and upgrade costs?

Tai

Bit more hull and an extra engineer console so one more spot for a universal console or something.

Should 1 x fleet ship module (20M on exchange?) since you already have the C-Store version and maybe 20k fleet credits?

tl;dr yeah upgrade it, it's a great little brawler. I'm still enjoying flying it months since I bought it.

I'm guessing the reason why most pubbies I meet have horrible PCs (and can't afford to buy one built in the last decade) is because they all pay for attorneys to hang on the sidelines until a video game pushes them over the edge.

Another reason they likely use shite equipment is STO does nothing useful with modern hardware, leaving little incentive for them to reduce their "litigation" reserves.

If Cryptic/PWI cared one bit for stopping griefing/trolling in STO it would:

- Set Fire Extinguishers so they can only be used in the mission instance in which they are found and nowhere else.

- Give party poppers/tribble guns/balloon guns etc a set number of charges before they are used up.

- Move Party Amplifiers to the Zen store, set them so they only last 30 seconds, and the dance action can be cancelled by just moving (like it is in another cryptic game.

- Set a radius of contact around toons so players can not stand on top of each other (like it is in another cryptic game.)

- Disable all combat abilities in social/hub zones like Risa, Drozanna, DS9, ES9, etc..

- Fix the STFs with choke points so one player can not block progression of the missions.

- Impliment a vote kick system for STF teams so players themselves can stop someone trying to intent ally fail missions.

That would take out the more casual troublemakers as, deprived out their toys, they would get bored and wander away. As for the more hardcore ones, a 10 minute search of this forum or Google would provide more than enough evidence and justification for a couple competent GMs to start swinging the banhammer on the perpetual problem children. It's not like they are shy or subtle about their antics.

But we might as well be wishing for a million dollars, world peace, and a pony at this point. Cryptic/PWI's made it very clear they will go out of their way to protect and support their trolls and griefers, even when there is evidence of a connection between one of the more notorious ones and the guy who was supposedly DDoSing the games and hurting their business.

Such is life I guess.

During simpler times this was as easy as running into Drozana station with a fire extinguisher, and much rage was had.

However, as time went on the ERPists dispersed, and in addition found ways to shut the effects off, and it seems the idea of novelty items causing rage was coming to an end.

Then Cryptic gave us the gift of...The D. [i.e. Disco Ball]

Pubbies raged against the D, and there is usually at least one thread every couple of weeks on the official forums demanding that Cryptic remove it from the game. Armed with the power of the D, you will go forth and bring the joy of Disco to all the pubbies, ERPists or otherwise. They will scream, they will shout, they will threaten. Yet the D is absolute."

And please don't try to play the "we only go after public ERPers" card. We both know it's a load of bull.

You mean like opening a thread asking the devs to change the Orion color palet to be green only because you didn't think they should not be green?

repetitiveepic wrote: »
I guess calling it 'griefing' is better than calling it 'cyberbullying' like some do. Cyberbullying is a serious thing that has real world harmful effects on people.

"Cyberbullying" and "Griefing" both stem from the same mentality of "I'm going to @#&% with you and there is nothing you can do about it." That one takes it to further extremes than another is immaterial. Trying to split hairs over it is akin to saying assault should be legal so some people can slap others off the back of the head and not get in trouble for it. Either way someone is going out of their way to be disruptive and make people miserable and expects to suffer no ill consequence for it. Hardly a healthy attitude to promote, on or offline.

Will Wheaton said it best: "Don't be an d*ick." If you have a hard time following that simple axiom then the problem is with you, not the people you are being a d*ck to.

And before you launch into one of your patented idiot grin Gish Gallops, no I am not equating real life assault with party ball spamming. I am making an analogy to compare how foolish it is to tolerate one form of bad behavior because it is just slightly less than a worse form of bad behavior. I shouldn't need to explain that but this is you I'm dealing with.
repetitiveepic wrote: »
