I seriously have no idea what you are talking about. I used those for effect. The effect being to make my post look as ridiculous as the idea of calling artwork necessary or unnecessary.

So that explains why he did not answer. He had no mouth to answer with. There is nothing left of him but his ears.

I'm pretty sure we can label this entire derail unnecessary. I think the only people not sick of it are the people still posting about it.

In the interest of changing the subject, Kumiko the Treasure Hunter just got added to Amazon Prime (US), and it's a movie that got a lot of great buzz this year. It's about a Japanese woman who becomes obsessed with the movie Fargo and travels to America to hunt down the suitcase full of cash that Steve Buscemi's character buries but never recovers. Just like Fargo, it's based on a true story.

I'm really interested in checking it out later tonight and I know that Fargo isn't a true story, you goddamn pedants.

It took a lot more than soap and a hot shower to get the stink of Noah off of me after watching it.

Watched Tiger House on netflix last night. The actress that plays Oliver's sister in Arrow, stars in it. Your usual "everybody's trapped and held hostage by baddies!" fare for the most part, and a decent (if unbelievable) ending.

I just finished it and I disagree. Starts kind of strong and a little interesting, but ultimately goes nowhere and just feels like a lovely remake of You're Next. It even steals the twist ending where a hostage is in on it. The opening half hour really was good. :sigh: I hate how little they did with it.

Stretch was terrible. It required someone with way more charisma than Patrick Wilson has to pull it off. I spent the entire movie annoyed because the bones for an entertaining picture were there, but PW just couldn't pull it off.

He didn't make any impression good or bad on me in Watchmen or Hard Candy . He was just his usual bland self, easily substituted with any other C lister, saved only by an interesting plot.

Insidious is the first time I felt that he actually rose to the role.

There was a little period where Kirsten Dunst was really shaky but in the past decade or so she's been a great actor.

Haven't watched Fargo, I'll add it to my list.

I'm not saying he can't act, just that he doesn't have the charisma required for certain roles. Most of the movies I've seen him in he's just kind of, there. Nothing to really draw my attention to him.

I think a lot of people have a bad impression of her from the Spider-man films but it's clear to me now that that was mainly a directing/script issue.

Just watched the documentary Best of Enemies on Netflix US. Covers the rivalry between Gore Vidal and William F. Buckley Jr., in particular their ABC "debates" in 1968. Interviews with Chris Hitchens, Brooke Gladstone of NPR's On the Media, John McWhorter, Dick Cavett, and many more. Really enjoyed it.

I have to agree that Broadchurch S2 was a pretty big drop in quality. It was still entertaining even with the theatrics of the trial going on, but the last episode was really pretty absurd and really tanks my interest in the third season (which will apparently be a thing). Are legal dramas as popular in the UK as they are in the US? I think this is the first time I've seen a depiction of a British trial.

Didn't Tom Miller delete a bunch of stuff from a laptop in the first season? Was that just the emails that they later got ahold of?

I also recently watched Dark Star, the HR Giger documentary that got added to Netflix recently. I give it a very tepid recommendation. It really doesn't do very much - I don't feel like it provides any great insights into his artwork. The cover some of the major incidents of his life but I feel like there have to be some books out there that do a much better job of putting things into context. It feels like a movie made by hardcore fans for hardcore fans.

The biggest fault of the movie is that it's incredibly depressing seeing Giger in his last days. He looks awful. The videos they show of him from only a few years earlier show a perfectly alert figure still filled with childlike glee working on his weird railroad ride running through his house and garden. This is a massive contrast to the sad, bloated figure shuffling around the house at random wearing a slight permanent grimace of pain. I'm sure he would have liked to say a bit more, but his slurred croaking doesn't allow for any great lengths of oratory. Without his staff of helpers around the house would surely have been approaching a hoarder den. He died very shortly after filming the documentary, which is not terribly surprising from seeing him.
