I liked Gohan all the way through, especially his fight with Super Buu. He was like the coolest poo poo at that point when you're a kid and you've watched this pink bubble gum man run roughshod over the whole cast and the character you've seen through all of DBZ loving wrecks him. Then Bubble Gum man absorbs people and then Vegeto happens and the Buu Saga is the best.

Given the dude consistently made the final forms of his bad guys big, buff and growly I'm pretty sure he never really got Toriyama's own design aesthetics. Still, he made Janemba, so 1 out of 13 ain't bad.

Well, at least we know there's some people out there who agree with him. Namely, the Heroes team. Because goddamn they love Broly a lot. Not only does he get SS3, not only does he get SS4, he also gets a powered-up Super Saiyan 4 for a mission in Heroes. Because we can't pile up enough forms. Can't wait for LSSGSS4 Broly.

Toriyama has a thing for making the baddest dudes look the most unassuming. Both Freeza and Cell had their final forms be the most sleek and humanoid. Vegeta was shorter than Nappa. Buu's first form was a fat baby and his last form was a little kid. And not only is Beerus not physically intimidating but his attitude is lazy and immature. In fact, final forms that get big and buff specifically backfire a bunch of times, Trunks's buff mode is too slow and Freeza's buff mode is hilariously inefficient.

I like to think (and this is probably stupid) that when characters attack in DBZ they're effectively enveloped by their Kii, meaning even an attacking character has some level of defense. When they're calm they don't have any defense up at all. So when Cell is in the beam struggle with Gohan he still has some rudimentary level of defense for the back attack, but when Goku gets shot by the ring he doesn't. We know from the earlier Final Flash that Vegeta /can/ do enough to actually hurt Cell as long as he doesn't see the attack coming so it seems reasonable that the Big Bang attack should do /something/ to Cell.

Yeah the TFS ranking videos come out in the afternoon. So today's is up now. As for the latest episode of Super, I was a little disappointed with "that place" that Whis sends Vegeta/Goku to. It was about 10 seconds of "Oh noes I can't do anything' and then immediately Vegeta going "Wait if I do this specific thing that we don't really bother with at all, magically I can move fine and this is no longer a problem'. If there was SOME foreshadowing for it, like Whis telling him off for how he managed his ki or something, that would at least make more sense. It's just really jarring as is. Unless there was something, but it was like a month ago so I forgot.

The only bad thing about Wrath of the Dragon is Goku winning the big fight, and not Trunks and Tapion teaming up somehow. Otherwise I'd say it's one of the better of the 13 original DBZ movies.

Maybe it's just childhood nostalgia but I felt the first two (even maybe the third and possibly fourth, though TFS has already done those two) were a cut above the crap. Starting probably with Lord Slug and especially the first Cooler move they fall into a generic formula and become hard to watch. Personally, I don't see why metal Cooler is so poo poo upon. The animation is bad but kids rarely notice that stuff, and the Vegeta/Goku metal Cooler fight has some of the best fight choreography in the entire series.
