So now that the selection process is over, what's the next step and what sort of timeline are we looking at? Is there any help that will be needed with anything?

RangerScum posted:So now that the selection process is over, what's the next step and what sort of timeline are we looking at? Is there any help that will be needed with anything? As far as I know the selection process isn't yet complete, but anyway in answer to your question, here's the plan. 1. Get a quote based on page count with a few different paper options. Hopefully we can get this before places around here shut down for the Christmas break. 2. Compile the final zine. 3. Get a proof made up. Hopefully have this by mid January. 4. Collect payments. Either directly through Paypal or using Kickstarter as a convenient means of tracking everything. Slight cost difference but might just be easier letting KS manage all the legwork. Either way I guess I'll give everyone a month to pay, so let's say we're getting to the end of this step mid to late February. 5. Get final copies printed. 1-2 weeks. 6. Post it all out. If all goes to plan this should happen before the end of March!

There will probably be sequencing, design, and layout that needs to be done as well.

I'm off work for the next six weeks so I should be able to design and collate everything over that break. The plan is to keep it simple and classy (indeed, the very antithesis of the Dorkroom itself.)

You can probably arrange the submissions by last name alphabetical order too.

Working on the list right now, finishing it today. The last question I have: how should I be announcing things? I can either email everything to elgarbo in secret (and individually to each person saying what went in), or I can just post here with names & filenames which are mostly ambiguous enough that only the submitter should know what the images are. Thoughts?

Sent my list to elgarbo, I'll post here later tonight with the list if I don't get oppositions. If you personally oppose to having your submission listed in this thread PM me or post and I'll just exclude it from the list and let you know directly your submission status.

A reminder: if you make the cut, you are obliged to actually purchase one of these zines. If you don't, your photographs will be replaced by a randomly selected photograph from the Flickr group HDR Photographers with your credit attached. (This is a joke. This will not actually happen. Your photos will just be culled from the final copy.)

Just resize the flakes to 2"x2" and set random Lightroom sliders to max, then print them all on a "Wall of Shame" page as the back cover.
