So the "affluenza" guy is all over the news again and people don't seem to understand that a minor can't be tried as an adult for a DUI and they're all just turning into a giant pitchfork mob about it. As far as I know, no one in the jury actually bought into that affluenza garage and they still found him guilty.

This one is weird because on the surface it's about "kids these days" being lazy, but the subtext is that the poster is too lazy to shovel his/her own driveway. I guess SNES and Sega Genesis weren't captivating enough to keep kids inside.

Recently I found an article about how Donald Trump's campaign and other factors have fueled interest in the 'alt-right' white nationalist movement online this year. Apparently somebody posted a link to the article on Stormfront, which naturally led to a swamp of the finest examples of the white race taking over the comment section. Most of them had interesting, but predictable thoughts on the matter: ...But then there's this lady, who shows up multiple times in every comment thread to tell everyone what their REAL issue is. (Note: None of the following people said anything about white children, or wishing to harm them.) Then she made her own thread, and immediately got DUPED by SARCASM As a side note, I love how these people talk. "Don't you try any of those distracting jokes on me!" I'm not defending the guy, but as far as I know he couldn't be given serious time for what he did even if they wanted to. I've never really heard of teenagers getting serious time over manslaughter unless there was some other kind of felony involved. He was not tried as an adult, because teenagers generally aren't tried as adults over manslaughter. At most, he would have spent some time in juvenile detention and his record would have been expunged. Now that he's violated his parole he can be tried as an adult and could potentially do more time than he would have in the first place. Elderbean has a new favorite as of 23:27 on Dec 30, 2015 |

When I walked around with a shovel 15-20 years ago(jesus christ I'm getting old) I was more often told "lol I have a snowblower I'm not going to pay you to do something that takes me 3 minutes". It stopped being a productive/ lucrative use of time and became walking a mile while holding a shovel. Don't blame lazy kids blame lazy adults.

Most of the time when I see things like that I hear "I want to pay somebody absolute beans to do something I'm too lazy to do." It isn't about teaching kids responsibility and how to do jobs it's about fleecing children who might not know any better. Yeah you can probably get a soda, a candy bar, and a comic book out of it but is it really worth it? You could probably scrape change off of parking lots and make the money faster. "Why won't children do these task for me?" Because you're being a selfish, lazy poo poo about it, that's why.

It totally teaches kids something valuable. It teaches them that people will try and screw them over and pay them a pittance for their time, then call them lazy when they refuse to do it. It's great training for being an adult in the modern world.

I only took some tests while applying for jobs, this was used by some companies to get from 500 applicants down to 3, so there was an even playing field (people with 10 years of school education). Of course it's useless to compare middle-class-education-havers with 3rd-world-dirt-collectors. Lottery of Babylon: idgi

Yeah, if you want kids to work don't offer then insulting amounts and then act like they are the ungrateful ones. Here where I work (a small family business) one of our employee's kids asked if he could clean the office for a little money. He moped the floor, wiped down the doors, just did a good job making things look nice. Probably took him an hour or two and the boss gave him $20 for his efforts. This was a 10 year old. Turns out kids are plenty willing to work if you are actually gonna give them a fair deal. But if you're just going to try and blatantly exploit them then it shouldn't be surprising when they gently caress off to play video games instead.

Last summer some kid in the neighborhood started walking around with his lawnmower and offering to mow lawns for $20. I was his first customer, I thought it was awesome he was making money for himself and everything. Well, turns out he never really tested his mower, and 4 minutes in it broke. He finished the rest of my pretty sizable lawn with a weed eater, poor guy. It looked like poo poo but I gave him $40 for the huge amount of effort he put into it. Those kids are still around they just don't go to your house because you're an rear end in a top hat.
