To be fair, Corran with all the trimmings is a massive motherfucker whose only silver lining is he's like 40+ points to get that far, I've experienced plenty of frustration flying against a PS 10 arc dodger with boost and barrel roll who can acquire free target locks by attacking, regens shields on green maneuvers, and gets to shoot twice whenever he can line up the perfect alpha strike.

Going to my first mini tourney this friday. Thinking of running this list:

Kavil (24)
Veteran Instincts (1)
Autoblaster Turret (2)
Unhinged Astromech (1)
Engine Upgrade (4)

Prince Xizor (31)
Veteran Instincts (1)
Advanced Sensors (3)
Autothrusters (2)
Virago (1)

Binayre Pirate (12)
"Hot Shot" Blaster (3)

Binayre Pirate (12)
"Hot Shot" Blaster (3)

Total: 100

Planning on using Xizor and Kavil to get close and personal arc dodging at PS9 and dropping 3-4 dice attacks on anything near them. The Binayre pirates are there to block and have the hotshot blasters for a little extra kick (as well as eat handed off damage from xizor).

Have you considered taking a stresshog instead of some Zs? Y-Wing + BTL title + Twin Laser Turret + R3A2

The stresshog shuts down the enemy aces hard

I've tried this before to switch things up and in retrospect it was during a time when there were more 4BZ lists running around and I didn't really need the stress hog against Jax/Soontir/shuttle. Palpy didn't exist back then. It didn't work so efficiently but I might try it again now that circumstances seem right for it.

They're especially good on anything with a 3 dice primary; you're shooting dice at every range in that case, with range three gaining no defense bonus.

They are really more ideal against low agi Rebel ships. Firing a 7 pt weapon against something with Autothrusters and evade will just end in disappointment.

OK, so this is what I'm planning to run for Imps once Imperial Veterans comes out (and probably trialling it before if my FLGS has the ships, I want some to repaint). My question is, with 10pts of munitions on Redline (2 missiles and a Torp), what to take?

Extra Munitions (2)

Fleet Officer (3)
Rebel Captive (3)
TIE Shuttle (0)

My gut feeling is Clusters and Ion Torps and a point of initiative bid, does anyone have any suggestions?

Also, I'm super looking forward to Dengar. I can't help but feel like glitterstimmed double tap followed by 3-sloop turned green by Unhinged Astromech is just going to be hilarious.

But I am bloody sick of these droid regen builds. Played against a Corran Horn + R2, Regen Poe list that was super annoying. As a noob, I'm at a loss as to how to consistently defeat these regen lists short of making my own regen list. I don't have the cards for that yet, but even if I did it's super boring.

My list was Poe + BB8 (which was awesome and fun) with Miranda + Recon Spec. + TLT and any time I got some hurt on one of the Aces, they'd run away from Miranda, recharge shields, and then come back in and kill her. Then I'm down to Poe and an A-wing... ugh... kind of frustrating.

Heh, there was a Decimator + Redline build that was pretty bad. Lost as bad as I think Decimator + Lambda would've done.

I was the guy playing that Decimator + Redline list, as for it being bad it was more fun than you would think.

Otherwise, had a pretty great day for X-wings, taking down a brobots list and a Han Shoots First with two T-70s as backup. Aside from the round I lost I only lost Jansen once and didn't lose Luke or Wedge, for a three round MOV of 466. Took fourth because two guys were 3-0, and another 2-1 guy finished with an MOV of 480.

His ability is:

Enemy ships that you have locked cannot modify any dice when attacking you or defending against your attacks.

This means that O'Leader's target pretty much has to take what they roll. They can't use focus tokens, can't re-roll for target locks, don't get Autothrusters, etc etc etc.

That's already powerful, because Omega Leader can still modify his OWN dice.

Comm Relay allows him to keep one unused Evade at all times.

Juke lets him use that Evade offensively. So long as he has that Evade token, Juke allows him to change one of the opponents Evade results to a focus (which they can't modify if he has a lock on them).

All together, this is a ship that is a real bastard to kill 1 on 1. He's rolling 3 evade dice, almost certainly has an evade, and if you didn't force him to use it the previous turn, probably a has focus, too.

Meanwhile, he can push out low but very consistent damage because of Juke.

Yeah, he costs all of 26 points to be one of the best closers in the game.

I think that the TIE/fo and Tie Adv. Prototype are going to be a catalyst for a big shift in Imperial list building.

Today, most Imperial lists are a variant of one of the following archetypes:

Three aces
Ace + Miniswarm
Swarm

With the TIE/fo and upcoming TAP, you end up with reasonably powerful mini-aces that you slot into other lists. I think we're going to see 4-ship Imperial lists as A Thing once Wave 8 is available.

It also opens up the big guns to fit into the existing archetypes. You can take Soontir and Omega Leader, and still have room for a big heavy hitter like Whisper or (once Imperial Veterans is out) one of the named Defenders.

They have a bad rap because they're difficult to use and therefore don't get a lot of face time in the most common lists that cut to top 8/top 16/whatever. I use some variation on XXX all the time and it works really well for me. Integrated Astromech is a godsend and keeps ships flying for longer, and there are supposedly new fixes still in the works for T-65s.

They do release card fixes but there isn't really a great one for x-wing yet (it really needs to be able to reposition via barrel rolling or boosting somehow). Integrated astromech was made but you might as well use it for the superior T-70 x-wing. Also, a warning that any card fixes will be attached to a model you may or may not purchase. Rumor has it this is because Disney will crack down on them if they ever release card-only packs as this is a "miniatures game."

My local meta is also diverse, but not as large. We have 8-10 guys at our monthly tournaments. There was one duplicate (Soontir/Vader/Palpmobile) last month, but otherwise we had everything under the sun. Brobots, triple K-Wings, Deathrain+Crack Shot Swarm (someone copied me, I used to run this), and more.

We have one guy who loves his X-Wings as much as you, but he usually runs Wedge + Biggs + <someone>. I haven't seen him try your Stress Janson, and I'm kinda scared to suggest it, because he's won a few tournaments!

Against your stress Janson list, I'd either flank with O'Leader (chase him or ignore him, I don't care) or just use him as a Biggs analog (please, shoot him instead of Soontir!), and be okay with that.

Frankly, that's the beauty of O'Leader to me right now. It doesn't matter what the enemy does to him. It's still good for me.

Played a casual "semi-epic" 200 point game today at my local game shop (since our table is too small, and round). When I got there I bought the assault carrier, and I thought it was pretty awesome, especially since I love flying tie swarms.

I used the quick release upgrade (letting me unload all four of my docked ties at once). I flew it to the center all full speed and released them all on my third turn.

It had 4 academy pilots (2 w/ targeting computers), and the carrier had the jammer and turret that came with it (which seems a must have since it has no primary attack). As an escort was a tie adv (w/ adv. targeting computer), two interceptors and a tie/FO..

My opponent ran XXXBE + Crow with Luke/Wedge/Poe, Caron Horn and Jan Ors.

Thankfully I realized that all the docked ties are 1 PS when I released them so close, if they were higher than 3 they'd be likely squashed right after release since the carrier is 2 PS and can't stop or reverse.

My Adv. got killed in a single round by two ships and I lost one of the ties.
My carrier squashed Luke Skywalker who got too close, and then squashed Poe Damereon (along with one of my own interceptors, oops). We traded shots but ran out of time with the store closing, and I was declared the winner based on points (or rather my opponent conceded because we were pretty sure I had more points.)

Every additional die you roll above and beyond your opponent's evade dice is worth more because math.

If you roll one attack die you have a 50% chance get a hit or a crit result (not accounting for TL, Focus, etc.) but your odds of actually landing that hit go down to 31% if the defender also gets one die. If you have one more red die than they have green though, then there's no way to block that second die so its odds go back up to 50% and your odds of scoring at least one hit go up.

The same applies for having less attack dice than the defender's dice, which is what makes 3 and 4 evade ships such a pain in the rear end. But rolling 4 dice instead of 3 against a ship with 3 evade pushes your chances of scoring at least one hit up from 45% up to about 60%.

Is that worth it? You'll have to decide. Certainly not equipped on anything you expect to die quickly, but a ship the lasts through to the the end of an entire match will still probably only get to attack what, 5 to 7 times? Having better than even odds of doing damage with every one of those attacks, with the outside chance of rolling 4 hits, might make it all pay off.

On the other hand, putting an HLC on anything is like painting a drat bullseye on it.
