I don't think all their plotlines are necessarily bad but most their writing is, although some of it plumbs the heights of adequacy(also this plotline is bad). e: I should add that I read Uncharted Realms for some reason

So, while we're talking about M:tG flavor let's talk about uncharted realms. The writing quality runs a gamut(although none of it is truly good, of course), bracketed by the nissa and ob nix writers. For some reason, they wrote the last one together, the first half from Nissa's PoV and the second half from Ob Nix's PoV. The Nissa half was horrible, literally the only things I can tell you from it is that Nissa tried to attack Ob Nixilis, lost, and that there was a line in there that sounded like it came from tentacle porn. The Ob Nix was a decent piece of writing that involved him beating the poo poo out of Jace and ended with him in the process of drowning Gideon.

I don't really get the Eldrazi deck so far. It was pretty cheap since I had a lot of the pieces, but it seems very "Tier 2" to me in that its not a good deck at all if you don't draw Temple, Eye and a Relic and it has a very hard time interacting with what your opponent.

Think of it as Jund with fewer colors. It has a whack of targeted removal, heaps of hand control, and big ol' beaters. The caveat is that you need to be concerned about exiling cards to get the full effect of several creatures, but even then it's not 100% necessary to include that strategy (I can see Strangler and Herder in diminished roles in the deck post OGW).

Anyone ever bought MP stuff from SCG? I need to do event pickup for a maelstrom pulse at Charlotte this weekend and the MP foil alara one is on sale for only $.30 more than the regular modern masters SP. Tempted to buy it but not if it's going to be beat up.

That could slot into some variety of black aggro as early game aggressor and as a way to clear out late game blockers. This meta is really heavy on one creature on the field at a time. Also kills the blue sphinx, for whatever that's worth.
