This guy knows I'm new, and in my 2nd ever game insisted on playing ITS Highly Classified, when I'd not even seen a classified deck, with link-teams and as many special rules as possible.
The same game I mentioned in the post above (with Loss of Lieut), he also pulled different AROs for members of the same link team (Discover on 2 and 'wait' on the others), and decided that The Armoury was a Nimbus Zone (while bringing Heavy Flamethrowers to the game).

I got a couple of things wrong - I thought I could activate my G:Servants with one order- I know better now, and I thought that Impetuous orders had to be cancelled with a Regular order (not just Extreamly Impetuous ones).

I'm just not going to play him again, as there are better and more enjoyable people to play against at the club.
We definitely need a game of something at some point, either Dropzone or Infinity. Very much alcohol and fun gaming for me at the moment.

You can teach me Dropzone on Thurs, can I nick your Condors? I'll bring the Freddos.

Human Sphere and Paradiso. You can find full rules from both (except the campaign rules which you don't need for single games) in CB's official site in the download section.

Tohaa and Steel Phalanx rules are in Campaign Paradiso, vanilla Aleph is in Human Sphere.

I've only played Biotechvore the once, but I think it's a pretty fun mission. Pile in there and get everyone! Think carefully about your 1 or 2 lists with the missions in mind, is my only advice. EG have enough specialists, taking note of their deployment abilities with any exclusion zones etc taken into account; don't take 4 snipers and no direct template weapons or shotguns for biotechvore.

The shotgun would reign supreme on Biotechnovore.

Quick question, if I have paired weapons such as two pistols/shotguns/flamers giving me +1 burst, does that carry over to ARO? Or is the only way to increase burst in ARO from suppression fire or being part of a link team?

E: One more question - I've tracked down some cool paper craft to use as terrain. But more intricate (free) designs are always nice. Anyone have site recommendations?

The 2 weapons bonus is only in the active turn. Note that flamers or other DTWs can be fired 2 at once in opposite or overlapping directions though.

Biotechvore you want close range weapons, but you also need 1+ strong ARO pieces, TR bots are the most common example. If you can fix your opponent in his deployment zone, especially if you have to go second, that's a big deal.

So my Ghazi Muttawi'ah box just arrived today. When I first opened it, I was like, "drat, they gave me the same chick twice." Then I looked more closely; using the same base torso, you can build two completely different-looking minis. Then I looked at the way the male Ghazi's second leg fits onto the leg-torso main piece. Clever partitioning, superb fit, really fantastic design work here.

tldr; holy CRAP are these minis are awesome!!!

If you want in-depth fluff, your best bet is to find a local who's got the printed books and borrow them, or buy cheap used ones. Infinity is"weird" in that it has free rules but makes you pay for most of the fluff. You may also want blog articles on CB's site an on Data Sphere.

If you want tactics/meta, start with skimming the stickies in the official forums' faction subforums and go from there. Infinity is much more reliant on player tactics than on list building so local metas vary hugely and most times if there's an opinion that X is poo poo there comes someone who doesn't know it and wins a tournament with it.

If by "degenerate tactics" you mean breaking the game, not a lot of that here. Maybe order spam, but that's mostly a thing in ITS and other tournament systems that don't rely on specialist requirement will see more heavy-oriented lists. If you mean ways people cheat/rules-lawyer and the like, well, Infinity has a number of secrecy mechanics that are easy to break so cheaters either get bored or have no opponents because no one wants the hassle of writing everything down and checking it every time in a casual game.

Agreed!
I didn't actually play any games the night I met that group. I was just picking up a few models and wanted to check out the scene.
In the games I've played I've been very aggressive with my Sikh Commandos and my TO Hexa, and my opponents haven't complained. In fact, the guy I played last won because of his well positioned combat jump. I do want to go back one night and play the guy who was complaining, but I doubt I'll make it out to game with that group regularly because they are a bit more out of the way for me than the others.

I just find it interesting what some people think is dirty versus not dirty. Advanced deployment seems like such a trivial thing to get upset about in a game that has hidden deployment, open and closed information, imitation, shape shifters, etc., etc.

It's got to the point that when he first reveals I just look my opponent in the eye and boom out "INTRUDER!" as deep as possible.

Eh, no camo and a big profile means the Autocannon Tankhunter/whatever other big gun gets some play.

The Intruder is scary because it can just go back into camo and hide in total cover after wrecking your frontline.

Impersonation lets you deploy outside your deploy zone (or in the Enemy deploy zone with a WIP roll)- so it lets you deploy right up in Your Face, in IMP-1 state

I believe they have AD, or else my most recent opponent was mistaken. And that could be the case since he said he hadn't played much since N2, but I don't really believe it since he had ITS scenarios printed out and we had the rules up on three devices.

Also, this talk of MSV3 has me looking at Aquila guards and checking out that sleek HMG profile/model.

I don't think it's even about making them guess. It's about relentlessly chewing up their order pool to deal with them. Even laying them as an ARO, "You shoot me? Cool, have a mine for the next time your activate."
I haven't done this myself, but it seems like a great way to throw a roadblock up for small elite forces, and to force large order pools to kill off a lot of their basic support models. I'm going that route with the models I bought to round out my Icestorm Nomads. :getin:

I think it is pretty good and well-rounded. This has evolved from a similar list where I had a Lunokhod in the 2nd group, and the Bandit was the only Hacker - Lunokhod wasn't seeing much action, so I wanted a Reaktion Zond instead. Had to move things about a bit, dropping a linked Alguacil HMG as unecessary, got the second hacker, had to drop a 2nd Moran FO for a Tomcat due to lack of SWC. I think it looks a bit better-rounded, variety of specialist types, at least I've got 1 AD troop as a little ace up sleeve. You could make the Tomcat an Engineer to repair the zond and/or cover a different classified objective, but I think the doctor has a greater chance of actually affecting a game. Fun trick, the zondbot can deploy near the zond, any opponent who's played Corregidor will realise there's a Tomcat Engineer in the wings, then waste more orders taking your TR remote all the way to dead. Then, boom, that Doc comes in inoculating bitches left and right.

Another list which I haven't got the Zonds to field yet, but I think is quite a good example of a purely ITS-focussed, order spam list:

Jurisdictional Command of Corregidor

That's 19 regular models starting on the table. No infiltrators though, very crowded DZ. Not quite sure how it would play, but it's got the numbers, it's got the cheap specialists, I think it would do well in some missions, but I wouldn't take it in others.
