It's a good way to get used to the controls and maps. Yeah, I switched to twin stick controls because the motion ones felt way too twitchy. I picked up the rollers and I'm having a pretty good time just painting swathes of the map and pretending to be the energy sword from Halo. Feels way less stressful. When should I bother min-maxing clothing perks? It kinda sucks running into people with full swatches of damage up perks, but I can't be bothered with all that poo poo. I've just been buying what's fresh, yo.

You can mostly play with that mentality. In rank i'd say it matter somewhat, but min-maxing perks have very light benefits. For example, damage up always caps out 1 damage unit before a gun would take less to kill someone, so no matter what you're never really killing faster from raw damage (well there are few exceptions but lets ignore 'em for now) In half an hour a splatfest starts, by playing you'll be able to gain Super Seashells which let you put more perk slots on your clothes and when they're full reroll the perks you got. Best advice I got is look for a main perk you like (like faster respawn) and stick with it and mobility stuff, but never put it above looking fresh.

If you're in to the game enough to min-max your perks, you should know that learning the motion controls is more important than any single perk  You can min-max your perks once you have all the clothes/weapons you want, play around with your clothes to get a feel for what each of them do in the primary slot (general rule of thumb, 3 secondary slot perks is worth 90-100% of a single primary, so you can easily estimate how effective they'll be when you roll them in your secondary slots). Seashells from splatfests are each the equivalent of a 30,000 coin reroll, so play the splatfest until you're all tuckered out on it because you can get up to 720,000 coins worth of seashells.

Alright, sounds cool. I'll see if I can squeeze in some Splatfest stuff tomorrow but I'm not going to bother min-maxing until I decide to jump into ranked. I should probably try and get used to the motion aiming. Thanks!

If you cant get used to motion aiming, or aiming traditional firing weapons Rollers are a common suggestions but you might even want to check out blasters too.

Had a good time. Made it to so hawt and 14 points into past defender before I called it a night. I played a little more than usual because I needed the money for the custom hydra. Took about an hour, and I lost twice in that time (Which cheesed me off, because I had a solid streak going.  ) The heavy splatling is quickly becoming my go-to gun for these things. I think I've used it the last these last two or three times, and I used ONLY it for Naughty v. Nice.

That's what I predicted too, but then seeing a bunch of Team Past posts in the plaza made me reconsider. Oh man, after playing a while in S and S+ ranked, it's really nice to see all these low level squid kids Booyah-ing all the time even when we're losing.  Team Future already knows the result of this splatfest, so we might as well have fun while it happens. Edit: Callie wants to ride a dinosaur and meet a human. Someone just switched it. It's why the text isn't lined up properly.
