They let him walk the flight at graduation then yanked his hat. I think ruining your MTI's career and still forcing him to parade you in front of a crowd is about the closest you can come to 'winning' at BMT.

McNally, this poo poo, sadly, sounds like a sitcom. I hate that you're going through it. Truly. It just sounds so goddamn "this has to be scripted. Right?" But everyone knows the grim reality.

I went on base today to try to get my DD Form 2. The guy kept talking about benefits for 180 days and I can't get an ID because my separation code is MBK. I left thinking "what the gently caress was that guy talking about?" I googled around and a couple guys on reddit said they couldn't get their DD Form 2 until after they were separated. I guess I'll call AFPC next week about it and try to find a friend to get me on base. Edit: Whoops, thought this was the air force thread for a second. I guess I'm the idiot. And the other guy was an idiot for not knowing what a DD Form 2 is. Cojawfee fucked around with this message at 17:25 on Jan 22, 2016 |

I, personally, was the guy marching around Bagram in formation in the middle of a warzone. He wasn't making that poo poo up, and it was for the exact same reasons as in the book. Some officer wanted a pretty picture and a bullet on his ORB.

Bagram was the biggest collection of buttsniffers in Central Asia. I remember working for the SFS squadron there around 2006 and the O-3 cc wouldn't let the cops wear boonies while spending 12 hours a day in the Afghan sun because they "looked sloppy." Nope, he purchased eight-point DCU hats for everyone instead. The same guy had a mandatory formation of all the cops so he could present them their OEF and NATO medals, with PA in attendance taking pictures. Mind you at least three quarters of them had already had their decs presented. He also made a huge deal to get on the local AFN and do PSAs about being prepared, maintaining your weapon and being ready to defend at any moment. Meanwhile I'm a SrA with an M16, one 30 round mag and no radio escorting 45-60 Afghan dudes clearing mines directly next to the flight line. Later they had us watch a crane working within 50' off the runway edge, and told us to look at the horizon and watch for incoming aircraft and yell to the Afghan crane driver to back it up, which he may or may not do, inshallah. I swear to god I watched a C-17 wing come so close to that loving crane that I thought I was toast. When Airfield Management came out later to my dust-covered humvee (with no doors of course, because gently caress me) to ask what the gently caress is going on, some pilot reported almost hitting a crane I layed the whole thing out to him. Oh, it's worth mentioning that even though I was tooling around by myself in a humvee on an active runway I'd never been flight line driver trained, didn't have any form of radio and relied on "is there a jet coming? No? Okay go go go." Nothing was done to fix a drat thing of course and somehow they finished building the drat runway expansion without anyone getting killed. gently caress Bagram forever and ever. The only thing it ever did right was get Russians killed.

Let me tell you about the time we put almost $2B (with a B) worth of aircraft parked on the ramp right next to each other at KAF for like 12 hours so a bunch of people could bunch together in close formation to take pictures This was less than a month after a 107mm fragged a couple of F-16s at EOR, causing damage that put them out of commission for over a week but hey, the Col thought it was a good idea and the one-star agreed!
